nontraditional songs to walk down the aisle to?
So... I'm not sure what I want to walk down the aisle to, but I'm thinking something non-traditional. I will have a keyboard and violinist playing... and my cuz (female) could potentially sing. Anyone have any ideas? So far on my list is At Last by Etta James and Come Away With Me by Norah Jones, but I'm not sure that either one is 'it.'

I listen to our first dance song and picture us dancing. You do not have to walk down to here comes the bride? I rather walk down to something that has more meaning for us.

Haven't you realized that the only thing you *have* to do is pledge undying love to your FH?
For the record, there are many churches that do not allow 'Here Comes the Bride' because the composer, Wagner, was an Anti-Semite and Hitler's favorite composer, as well as the fact that the opera the piece comes from has a brother and sister marrying, I believe.
Honestly? I just don't think Wagner's a very talented composer overall. I hated studying him in Music History. Besides, I wanted my hands on every piece of music at the wedding, being a musician myself. So tradition wasn't going to work for me.

I don't know what the rules are if the ceremony is in a church. I have been to weddings in churches where the bride has walked down the aisle to other classical music besides here comes the bride.I am getting married at my hall, so I think I have more flexibility. I am having a methodist ceremony - so i will have to check with our offiiciant to get clearance. I want to decide what I want before I talk to her about it though so that I can explain why I want it and the meaning of the song for us.

It depends on the church, really, as far as I understand. Some allow it, some don't. I was mostly answering Futurebridetokeith's question about being required to walk down the aisle to Wagner.

Oh -- I should have clarified... I was really replying to her question as well! Tho - I will have to wait and see if I get the go ahead from our officiant as well. I don't foresee it being a problem though (fingers crossed).
