Re: NWR: Had a horrible day!

Sorry about your experience. Glad you found all your cards & ID. It's a pain to have to get all that stuff back - especially ID.

FYI - this can happen anywhere and EVERYONE can be suspicious. Not that I believe anyone here (or security) meant the women were suspicious simply because they are apparently a member of a minority group.

And it is just at Christmas time (the big pick pocket time of year) when the pick pockets come out. A good friend had her wallet stolen in July at a local wall street area restaurant. She sat down with friends at a buffet place and a young couple sat down beside them.

My friend had her wallet up on the table beside her tray of food. The couple sat down for a few minutes and just talked (they did not get up to go get any food). They left shortly after.

When my friend got up to leave about 20 minutes later she realized her wallet was gone!!!!! The couple (young White couple) only sat down beside her to steal her wallet. They obviously waited until she was deep into whatever conversation and just took it.

Another good friend caught a woman going into her purse on the 6 subway train just before Mother's Day. My friend had her CD player on and her eyes closed with her bag strapped to her shoulder. The woman was actually trying to unzip her bag w/o my friend waking up....but she was not asleep she just had her eyes closed. My friend jumped up and nearly beat this woman on the train - but the woman ran off the train at the next stop.

I wrote all that to say - be careful ladies. And it's not limited to NY.

Re: NWR: Had a horrible day!

Okay, something similar happened to me a few years back... the ending is kind of funny, so bear with me...

My Mother and I were in Subway and nobody was in the restaurant, so I put my purse down on the table and went up to order. (Why, I did that I have no idea... stupid!) Anyway, as we're ordering, the door opens and closes. So fast, I had no idea what happened. SO I get my food and sit down when I notice my purse is gone! So we call the police and as they're on their way down, a friend of mine happens to come in and say, I just found a purse down by the dumpsters with stuff all over the ground. Awesome!!! So the cops come and they actually found the person who stole it! So I'm going through my purse and the cop says, is anything else missing and I said, yes, my beeper. (Shows you how long ago this was, ha!) So the cop asks the guy, 'Do you have it' and he says, 'no' of course. So the cop lifts up his shirt and there it is on his waist like he owns it! He screaming and yelling, that's mine that's mine! So I said oh yeah, hold on... and I call my number and it starts beeping. To make a long story short, we pressed charges and he spent a few nights in jail... Moral of the story... be careful, there's a lot of feaks out there!
