Spitzergirl!

Last night I was leafing thourgh the July issue of Fitness that I received last week & they have a whole article on weddign weightloss- there are diet & excercise tips designed to help you lose 5 pounds in 4 weeks.

It should be on the newstands soon, if it isn't already.

I saw the same magazine!! There are some good tips in there.

As for me, its all about portion control .. I eat a little of everything, but SMALL portions. And yes, I have drastically cut down on my carbs , because I notice that if I eat cereal/bread/pasta it makes me hungrier. BUT when I tried going cold turkey, a la Atkins, I failed miserably

For me its a MUST that I count my calories stricly, because if I don't do that I can mindlessly pack away far far too much food. Since mid-March I started counting my calories and writing down everything I ate, and I've lost quite a bit of weight (about 23 lbs) I'm still hoping to drop some more lbs before my wedding / honeymoon, if possible . And I've been walking every night for an hour (outside or on treadmill) and doing lots of crunches, etc.

You can DEFINITELY lose 5 lbs by July 31 .. My goal is to do that by July 25th!

WE CAN DO IT , my fellow July bride!

There's a book? I watch the show all the time- it discourages me, b/c I need to loose about what they usually do 12-18 lbs or so, in 4 motnhs, but I don't have a trainer & know I won't work out that hard.

There is a book and they break it down into a 3 month & 6 month plan. It looks do-able if you follow it but i dont know how anyone manages to make it to the gym 4-5 times a week with all these wedding errands!

Re: NWR--How do I loose 5lbs by July 31st?

I'd say 'EXERCISE' and also try to eat smaller portions. You can also try just eating fruits and vegetables for 7 to 14 days.
No high content glycemic food (rice, pasta etc), no meats, no coffee or tea, but you can have any 'natural herbal tea'no white sugar(can use brown sugar), no milks, no eggs, no dairy, and drink green tea and you will lose it. I've tried this in the past. It's like a detox cleansing and it works!

Re: NWR--How do I loose 5lbs by July 31st?

Spitz... I have a foolPROOF way to lose up to 20lbs in 2 weeks... however, afterwards, it's up to you to keep it off. It's basically a fad diet, but it WORKS ~ keeping it off is the issue, though.
Let me know if anyone wants to receive the menu (excel spreadsheet), and I'll forward.

Re: NWR--How do I loose 5lbs by July 31st?

In case any of you are interested, I found it online - here is the site: Scarsdale

It's pretty straight forward, and trust me, if you stick to it, you'll lose the weight quickly (little exercise needed). However, it's only a 2-week diet, and shouldn't be followed more than that. They suggest 2-weeks on, 2-weeks off. Good luck girls! I'm starting it next week (trying to lose up to 10lbs).

Re: NWR--How do I loose 5lbs by July 31st?

I totally agree on the carb and fiber advise - I gave up my morning bagel a couple of years ago and replaced it with maple brown sugar oatmeal (quaker oats very filling) and I dropped 15 pounds and have kept it off. Also don't eat after 7 or 8pm the latest. If you don't like oatmeal try another fiber cereal but definitely eat breakfast lunch and dinner
Running didn't work for me - I used to run 5 miles a day through college and after and it just made me more hungry and bulky. Try walking 1/2 to an hour at least 5 times a week and pilates 2-3 times a week.
