Re: NWR: My dog UPDATE
It's not a common thing for any 5 year old dog. Where did you get her from? A breeder or a pet shop? Pet shops who sell puppies get them from puppy mills. They continuously breed dogs whether they have seizure disorders, bad hips, a history of cataracts...etc. Take her to the vet, and he or she will give you seizure meds-but this is now for life that she has to be on them. I'm sorry.

Re: NWR: My dog UPDATE
I had a shelty who had epilepsy. It is definitely scary the first time your dog has a seizure, but you will learn how to handle them. It's sort of an on-going science experiment. Every time your dog has a seizure the vet will adjust the medication. Eventually the vet got it right with my dog and the same will happen for yours. My dog was the runt of her litter...not sure if this has anything to do with it, but for some reason the vet thought so.
Best of luck!!

My cat had seizures, and they never really knew the cause of them... they said they could do tests like cat scans, but I didn't see the point of that. They gave her medication, which helped, but she died about 6 months later... i know this also something you might not want to hear, but she was 15. I think she probably had a brain tumor or something like that.
They said that seizures are more common in dogs though. How old is the dog? they said that if an animal has epilepsy it would manifest itself when it is very young.
My Husky had epilepsy his whole life and lived to be 19 so keep your spirits up

I got my Kiki from a breeder. We'll see what the results of her blood test say. Hopefully it won't be bad news. Thanks everyone

I hope she feels better real soon. It is very easily manageable but scary for the owner.

She is great today and honestly was her 'Old self' again after the seizure. The Vet said chances are there is nothing wrong with her, but if there is, it's something that can more than likely be controlled with medication. We won't know until Wed or Thurs when the blood results come in. Today she is just her little cute self . I just can't help but wonder if it will happen again while she's sleeping.
