2. Is this 100 less than current (ie you are now paying $1000 but can stay and pay $1100 or move and pay $900) I would MOVE. That is a savings of $2400 per year! Even if it was simply moving to pay only $100 less than upstairs... I would move. it is an apartment... you won't be staying there forever and rent is essentially flushing money down the toilet each month... I would rather keep the extra hundred for myself.

Yes it is. We're paying $1500 and it's either stay and pay $1600 or move downstairs and pay $1400. The only downside is the downstairs is a semi-basement.

How long do you plan on staying? If for just a few months, stay where you are. If longer, it would be cheaper. $100 is $100

Since you already have people upstairs I will need to change my original answer...I would move downstairs just the same but cheaper.

BUT I don't like semi-basement (mold and dampness). So get yourself a dehumidifier or make sure it's dry.

1. If you were going to a place that was the seen and be seen type would you rather spend $120 on
a) an upgraded car like a convertible
or
b) a killer outfit

Also if you were given the option to either stay in your current apt but pay $100 more in rent or move downstairs and pay $100 less in rent (for almost the same exact apt just the LR is slightly smaller) which would you choose?
1) stay where you are and fork up the extra $100
2) move downstairs & save an extra $100

Thanks in advance

Killer Outfit----more people see me in my outfit than my car(and i dont think my car is THAT bad)

I would move downstairs as long as the LR is only SLIGHTLY smaller. At this point I am looking to save what I can, pay back school loans, and save for a house...so 100 bucks for minimal loss of space is worht it to me!!!

Re: NWR: Need advice on 2 separate questions.....

not sure re: outfit and car. I guess it depends on where I planned to go, whether I had something that I would want to wear and whether I can wear the 'killer outfit' again. Also, If I was with DH, I might do the car, for him. I may opt to try to get the car and get a new outfit at a bargain somewhere.

re: the apartment, I once had a similar choice to make and I just stayed put. I was happy in the apt. unit that I had and I didn't want to chance moving and not liking it. You mentioned that the new apt is semi-basement. I think that I would opt not to go to a semi-basement, even if it doesn't seem basement-y!
