Don't even get me started. At my office, we are required to each chip in $100 for our boss's gift (who by the way has 3 homes and about a zillion dollars) and we have to pitch in $25 for each secretary... so that is another $210 and THEn we get each of our secretaries a gift ($25) and some associates exchange with others. That makes the total at least a whopping $335 for office gifts.... I am gonna have to start gift wrapping in the mall on the weekends for extra cash!!!!

Seriously for the associates i work with, I am thinking of going to Godiva and getting them the little box of 4 truffles... just a token gift. another guy i work with is just leaving bottles of wine for everyone.

That's insane How can they 'require' something like that??? I hope you get a HUGE bonus...or atleast enough to cover all the $$$ you HAVE TO spend on gifts!!! That's $ucks

And we had to spend almost $200 on my boss' birthday present about 2 months ago!!!for the senior attorneys it is not that bad... but I am NOT making 6 figures!!! Ridiculous!!!! Better get a decent 4 figure bonus is right!!!!!!!!

You are required to chip in for a gift for a partner

I never heard of such a bunch of B.S.

I always got cards and small gifts from the paralegals and secretaries which I think is so sweet considering they get crap work all year long, work late if asked and weekends to - basically at the disposal of attorneys but to require anyone to give anyone else a gift - especially in the work place - is absurd. A gift is just that - something given because you want to.

That is B.S. and you are not required to contribute to any group gifts - especially a $200 contribution

for some partner who is likely making $300K - $2 million a year depending on the size of your firm.

i'm not getting them anything.....i learned my lesson at my first job....i gave my 3 bosses gifts and spent like $30...in return i got THANKS.....i felt like a dunderhead...i know its the spirit of giving but come on...give me lil somthing!!!
