Re: NYC Reception site

We initially wanted to only have our reception in the city since both of us were born and raised in Manhattan,. When I began my search I realized that the bigger places that could hold our number of guests (approx 250) were well over $225 a person for a Saturday night. The smaller places were more reasonable but I don’t think you will find one for less then approx $150 pp. The boat basin café is awesome – Amy FH and I go there as often as we can too. Not sure if they do weddings but it would be a great location.

One place that hasn’t been mentioned is Bridgewaters at the South Street Seaport. I am going to a wedding there tomorrow and will give a review.

Re: NYC Reception site

Ok we were in NY last weekend, and went wedding reception site crazy. Our favorite place was the landmark mansion in the financial district but we think the room is going to be tight with our numbers. I also liked the Yale Club, and Marriott on Lexington. They all will do it for around $140 pp but compared to outside the city, you really don't get much for your money. Where they all faulter is the stations. In Westchester &LI you get 4-5 stations in that price range, but in the city you can get 1 maybe 2. My family is big into having food so that's becoming a challenge. Wethought about maybe other private clubs. Aghhhh!! this isn't any easier to do from Chicago.
