yes and no....I wanted the leaves to change a little but I also wanted some nice weather....I remember last year it was so warm in October and the leaves didn't really change to Nov.

My block is looking nice now with some of the changes....we will see what happens...

Anyone else worried that the leaves are going to go from green to maroon or brown???? Around me, there are a FEW trees that are yellow or orange, but most are green and some are green with tinges of brown ... which I think is what happened last year, they just got brown instead of changing yellow, orange, red. One of the reasons i chose this time of year to get married is because the leaves would make for amazing pictures -- and I feel like they just don't change as much as they did when I was growing up.

Jenn I was thinking of you lastnight on my way home from work...I drive from Stamford to Mineola. I noticed how pretty the trees look now that they are starting to change....I know you were worried.

I thought about this just this morning! All the trees in my neighborhood (not on my block though, weird) are turning yellow! Last night Fh and were driving home and I said, drive past the Fox Hollow, I want to see if the trees were turning there - but it was too dark too tell

I hope by this time next week they are all orange!!!!!

jenn.. i was at the fox the other night for my final meeting with PWP And it looked GORGEOUS!!!!!
i kept fighting myself between CB And FH and even though i went with CB i kept saying to FH ..but look how pretty this is!! lol
the trees, the entrance, the pumpkins.. it all looks amazing!! You are gonna have a gorgeous setting next week and you're gonna be a stunning bride!!!!!

I keep driving past the park where we are taking pictures to make sure there are still leaves on the trees. FH thinks I'm nuts. I work in Melville and the trees are yellow, orange and red and they have already started falling =(

Actually, a lot of the trees here in Queens near my apt and school have been changing to yellow, orange and reds. Not sure what's doing on LI near Fox Hollow though, since I haven't been out there in a while.

I'd really love to have the beautiful fall foliage in the background of pics..... so yes, I'm hoping that the colors change normally, not just leafy green to brown and dead. But I keep thinking what my sister says.... 'it is what it is.' As a photographer, I'm always concerned with backgrounds, so if the leaves are brown, we'll figure something else out.

Sounds like a good idea! Reminds me of my 3rd grade 'adopt a tree' science project back in 1983.... we had to pick a tree and observe it through all the seasons.

I only found this out last year when I had to research it to be able to teach trees and leaves to my class.... the more vibrant the color of changing leaves, the more sugar in that tree's leaves. Which means that the trees that go from green to brown hardly have any sugar in their leaves, whereas the bright reds and oranges have lots of sugar. Think of that deep red sugar maple leaf.
