I have an appt. to go there on Sat. with my MOH for bridesmaid dresses. Has anyone had any experiences with their services? Good and bad comments welcome.

Happy envelope stuffing:-) Stephanie

Yes, they have paper selections out so that you can view and feel the sheet. You can buy by the sheet or by the reem (or case). In fact, they had four different weights of vellum...wouldn't be able to tell the difference without holding up a single sheet to the light :-)

I went there with my mother to look for a dress for Mother of the Bride. We had an appointment and got there a few minutes early. We had to wait till out appointment. And when we did get our turn the dresses were ridiculously priced (at least in my opinion) I assume the bridesmaid dresses are somewhat normally priced but it is not like you can look through the stuff at your leisure. Still don't go jut cause of what I say. It is a fancy place and they seem to give you 100% attention once you get your turn.

I couldn't have said it better! No matter where you go there will always be something..about some place. All I know is that a HUGE portion of a wedding budget goes into the reception hall, and we checked out all of them. But when we stepped into the place, I just knew it. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut. True it's not for everyone, but we couldn't be more pleased. Our first choice was at Russo's on the Bay, but they were booked for our date. Keep in touch, Valerie.

How ridiculous were the prices? My Mom is coming with me also ad she wanted to look at Mother-of-the-Bride gowns. Were they willing to give any special discounts if all the dresses were purchased there?

My sister used Maria Celeste for her wedding 2 1/2 years ago. She was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I can't say enough about her pictures, her professionalism, and her photography style. I would have loved to use her for mine, but unfortunately, her prices went up and it was too over my budget. But if you have the means, I definately recommend her! Good luck!

HI Rachel I dont know about discounts but I know the dresses for Mother of the Bride were like $2000-$4000 dollars. I dont get the impression that they seem like the kind of store that has special discounts but it doesnt hurt to ask :)

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely ask a lot of questions when I am there. Where did your Mom end up getting her dress?

My mother bought her dress at a place called Lilla's in Queens on Union Turnpike. She looked at a place in Forest Hills on Austin Street. VERY PUSHY. I mean most places are but that place was especially pushy. Lilla's really does not have a lot of dresses but my mother just happened to find something she liked there. When is your wedding?

I am getting married in Nov. How about you? Where on Austin St. did you guys go? I live on Austin St. I have gone in a few places and have found them all to be really pushy and annoying. I have gotten about 12 messages on my answering machine from the bridesmaid dress store asking how I was doing in my search. The last time they called, they called my job. I was furious!!!! They really did lose a big sale with my 7 bridesmaids and I am now going out of my way just so I don't have to use them. They sound too desperate for business. I wish they would have just let me go at my own pace. They would have definitely gotten the sale and it would have been a lot easier for me to walk across the street than to drive to Great Neck...or wherever else I have to look.

Wow! You live on Austin Street!?! My Fi and I are moving into the Pinnacle in Forest Hills! We are getting married September 17 at the Milleridge Cottage. I got my gown at Macys out in Smith Haven Mall and ordered the bridesmaid dresses from Charmet in Bayside. They seemed to give a good price for the dress we ordered. I dont know where we are going to went the tux from. I dont remember the name of the dress palce in Forest Hills off hand but I am sure if you mentioned it I would remember it. I saw a tiara I liked ther.. It was $240. I got the same EXACT one on the net for $75!!!!
