I am going with Fine Art Photography in Jericho (on the corner of Robbins Lane and Jericho Tpke). I love their work. The video was great. The prices were reasonable and they were very flexible with the packages. They through in alot of extras. I am using Chuck as a photographer. You should check them out. Tell Chuck that Concetta Brown recommended that you see him. Let me know what you think. Good Luck!!

I've never heard of her but if you liked her work, why not ask for some references. That way you could check up on her with a few halls or brides.

Good luck.

I am using Frederick Photography on Route 110 in Melville. I was pleased with the quality of his work.

I am also starting to look for my photographer and possibly video. What is the average price for a decent package for both. I've heard 6,000, but that sounded extreme.

Also, I would like my photographer to do an "engagement" shoot, so that I can get an idea of their work. Anyone know of a decently priced photographer that does this?

Good luck.

Concetta, I looked into Fine Art and I love their work too, but their basic package starts at $3000 and that's just for photos, no video.. Since we are paying for our own weding, we are tight, but photos is definetly not an area I want to compromise. Any suggestions? Can you tell me what package you got and what kind of extras they threw in?? Thanks :)

Thanks!!

Hi Ladies: I hired Rick & Co. out of Sayville. He has a website

http://www.liwedding.com/rickandco

He is so sweet and very attentitive to calls and emails. Another bride on here has hired him as well. He has a package right now for $3,099.00 for the Millenium package. All his prices and packages are listed on his site. Check him out. I got Video and Photo for 3200.00 when I signed up.

I'm looking for a photographer that will do candids and maybe some few posed pictures. The thing is I'm on a very limited budget and we don't want parent albums or video. It seems everyone has these pre-set packages and the ones who don't are, like $$$ and that's just for proofs, plus whatever we decide to put in an album. I want nice pictures, but I don't think they should cost more than the reception. Help.

Like Arielle, we're paying for the wedding ourselves, too...and I will not compromise on pictures. (In fact, my fiance thought I was crazy for giving up a limo in order to have better pictures!)

Did you speak with a photographer there? They added to the photo package an engagement shoot, photos for my bridesmaids, they can change the pictures to black and white, all my thankyou's, all my proofs and negatives. The video package they will add alot more pictures than other places ( a total of I think 50) You also get 6 copies of the video 3 full length and 3 15 minute. I looked around alot for a photographer/video. I didnt find Fine Art's packages to be anymore expensive than others. My thought was I am going to get what I pay for. I went to Queens Bridal in Mineola. Their package was I think $3500 for photo and video but I wasnt thrilled with their work. They didnt have alot of candids etc. Check them out you might like their work. Photo style is very personal so what I didnt like you might. Good Luck and let me know what happens.

I spoke with Chuck as well. We are looking for a basic package with one album. Their package for an 8x10 album w/ 40 pic's/TY's/ 11x14 / and 5x7's for the bridal party was $ 3000. I have seen other places that have a similar package that start at half that. We have even decided against the video becase of our budget. One thing I love is candids and black and whites. And Fine Art really has the look we want. I hate the traditional posed weddding shots. One tip I've learned in this process is that we can have some of our favorite color shots transferred to black and white without costing us an additional photographer or charge. If anyone has any suggestions based on what we're looking for, please feel free to post. Am I the only one who feels like some of the prices us brides come across are ridiculous? :)

Where does the book for guests to sign go??? Is it at the church or just the reception? If it's next to the table cards, some people may miss it on their mission to find their name...so should there be a bridesmaid their to remind the guests? What do you think, or what are you planning???

Depending on your budget...

I didnt want to spend several thousand on my photography and did alot of shopping around, I found Rick & Co. in Sayville to be excellent. He really gave alot for the money, his work was excellent, he was the most accomodating considerate and easy going of all the places I looked at. What I liked best was he was not pushy. He had tons of samples and offered us references. For 2500.00 with him you could have a huge leather album and vidio to boot. Worth considering! His packages started at $1000.00

Hi Jen,

I didnt call anyone, although it was offered to me. I do know that the lab that processes his work is excellent and that the brand names of the leather albums he carries are top notch. He had so much work on display and so many albums with very recent work, many had special effects which he does himself. He also has a studio to take pictures in if the weather is bad and you dont want pictures indoors at you caterer.

What really sold me, besides all that other stuff was that I had spoken over the phone with, and had met at least 6 other photographers. All of which were real sales men. I had only one specific request, that the groom didnt see me before I walked down the isle. All the other photographers ( I can only speak of the ones I met with) were trying to convince me that because of the time of day and the location that they wanted family pictures and posed shots taken before the wedding, before the guests arived, on the catereing hall premisis. That it was silly (yes one place did use those words) and that now a days its no big deal if he sees me first.

I appreciate the candor in which you described everything. I have heard so many horror stories about photographers, that I want a decently priced photographer that accepts my wishes and isn't afraid to offer his opinion. My own parents had a photographer from hell. He was constantly in their faces, and wouldn't give them a moments rest.

When are you leaving? Has anything been resolved with the family's or is it still stressful? E-mail me privately if you'd like to talk.

I too hired Rick & Co. of Sayville. I found him to be very pleasant and wonderful. He has great packages. He is doing my wedding May 26th

It's never too late to ask anything! What's the worst that can happen...they say no?!? At least then you'll know, and you won't be wishing you had asked.
