CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMASHave I mentioned that it's Christmas? It's probably the only holiday that lasts so long. It begins as soon as Thanksgiving is over. The music, lights, presents. It's just a great time. I'm looking forward to my first Christmas as a wife this year.
CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS
It's also cool that my name is in it too

Christmas Eve.... because for as far back as I could start to remember stuff, it was a huge night! It is mostly just immediate family, with a few extra friends & family once in a while at Grandmas house. Plus, when my Pop was alive, it was extra fun!!!Then when he died almost 20 years ago, the tradition was pushed aside for almost 9 years, because he was buried Christmas Eve the year he died.
Now, for at least the past 12 years, it is a tradition for us to just be together at Grandmas, eat, give gifts to each other & hang out!!
Last Christmas Eve, I got to host in my teeny little apartment because Grandmas was in Virginia with her daughter!! My first Christmas Eve on my own!!

I am a huge Christmas nut. if it were up to me, I'd have the tree up in September, along with Christmas music and stuff. Seriously, I was delirious when the NY radio stations switched to all holiday music in mid-November. Boosh was ready to kill me because that's all we had on in the car.I love the entire period from mid-Nov to Christmas and I HATE Dec. 26. I have so many memories from Christmas shopping, to not sleeping on Christmas Eve and busting to see if I got the present I asked for, to driving around with my parents to look at the lights in the neighborhood to seeing the Rockefeller tree.
Christmas Eve was always my highlight. We did the big Italian family thing, complete with all kinds of fish. Then all the kids would sit around and the gifts would be handed out. During dinner we kept sneaking into my grandmother's bedroom to count the presents to see if one kid got more than the other.
My second favorite would be Thanksgiving -- can't beat the parade, turkey and FOOTBALL!!!!!
It's sad because my grandmother passed away last year, and had been sick from the side effects of a massive stroke since 1996 (it actually happened 6 days before Christmas). So, for the last 8 years we've been eating at a restaurant, so the tradition has lost a little bit. I'm waiting to have kids so I can live the excitement again through them, when they wait for Santa to come and all that fun stuff.
now i'm vaklempt -- talk amongst yourselves -- i'll give you a topic, the cold war was neither cold nor a war -- DISCUSS!!

This is hard! Before I met Jim I’d say Christmas or Fiesta! I love the cold weather and peacefulness of it. Clearly it has nothing to do with religion for me. I just like the pretty colors. My tree is always done up with vibrant colors.
Fiesta, warm weather, parades, great food, lots of fun, beautiful colors!! Ah, Fiesta San Antonio! I miss it dearly.
NOW though with Jim in my life……………?
Chinese New Years!!
AWESOME holiday!
It’s a week long free for all. Sorta like Fiesta! The smell of oranges in the house. The feeling of purpose when preparing the home for the holiday in cleaning up and such. It feels good (stupid, I know) and the FOOD oh yeah, I love this holiday! Food, Food, Food. Listening to Jim’s sister translate to me what Jim’s Grandmother feels are important details about each of the given years. I’ll always remember her getting angry at Jim buying red shoes during the year of the snake! Did I mention the red envelopes?
Lastly, is Thanksgiving. NOT THE HOLIDAY but I get to watch my Dallas Cowboys on TV and get stuffed. I also get to remember each year how devastatingly cruel and torturous the settlers were to the Indian people. I make sure to share the truth of the Thanksgiving Feast with those who share that meal with me. The sacrifice of so many for no cause. Grateful for where we are today, but saddened that it cost so much. It’s an important holiday for me.

I'm with Felicia & say the Fourth of July: I love watching the fireworks, BBQ's, friends/family, swimming and July 5 is my birthday so it's usually a 2 day celebration for me.I also love Christmas Eve because looking back it's nothing but happy memories of family, presents, roaring fires, big dinners, anticipation.
