I have one that I did last year........when you read the story, you will know and understand that I do not cook, no common sense w/ it whatsoever, but Im really not a Moron...but.......

I made low fat pumpkin muffins last year and it called for egg whites, so I boiled the eggs and used the whites as the egg whites, couldnt understand why the recipe would ask for this, b/c now there were chunks of egg whites in my muffins, so needless to say, I went upstairs to ask mommy---and, well, laughed for a real long time at my expense then explained to me what I should have done--I guess when I read egg whites, the only thing that came to mind was cooked instead of raw!

Dont ask????

OMG Andrea, I am LMAO ... that is one of the funniest things I heard ... that's as good as Kiri making Macaroni & Cheese and wondering why it was sooo soupy and I had to tell her she should have drained the pasta water first! LOLOLOLOLOL

Re: QOTD: share some funny 'on ur own for the first time' mishaps

When DH and I first moved into our house we went on our nightly walk. We each thought that the other one took the key, but neither one of us did. We were so newly into our home that our family members didn't have keys yet and we hadn't secretly stored one anywhere! We realized this half way through the walk. Luckily the kitchen window was open but we had to rip part of the screen in order to get in. I was wondering what our new neighbors were thinking of us! Now we never leave the house without asking the other one, 'You have the key?' and we have one stored outside in a little compartment with a lock on it!

Re: QOTD: share some funny 'on ur own for the first time' mishaps

OMG I've got a zillion, We've had flood, fire, I'm always on a diet so famine is natural, but infestation was one of the funniest. I was in my house alone and doing laundry when I looked down between the washer and drier and saw a dead mouse! I ran out of the house crying and knocked on my neighbor's door next door (2 college guys sharing a house) they were real helpful and said they would come over and remove it. So as I sat in the living room they went in broom in hand. They kept saying OMG, Wow, have you ever seen anything like this I've never seen one this color, there must be another one, there is always another one. When out of the laundry room they come with one of my knee highs.

Another good one was when my neighbor came over and asked me where to buy cup cake mix. She wanted to make cupcakes for her kids but could only find cake mix at the grocery store.

Re: QOTD: share some funny 'on ur own for the first time' mishaps

Those are so funny. i'm pretty domestic, so I haven;t had that happen.

So my only story was coming in form getting the mail and findind a lizard in the bedroom, getting on LIW, all freaked out about it, and periodically shouting 'STAY AWAY LIZARD' b/c I was afraid But we all knew that story!

EAL!

Re: QOTD: share some funny 'on ur own for the first time' mishaps

When I moved from Park Slope to Times Square I had set up for the cable company to install cable. Well, the guy comes. My intercom was not working properly so I ran downstairs to let him in not realizing that my boyfriend had set he door to lock automatically. I was locked out. That sucks, but it really sucks when you have on a t-shirt, cut off sweats, no make up and no shoes. I did not have a phone on me or any money so I had to bum a quarter to use the pay phone to call a locksmith because I did not have my landlords #. Not one of my best moments, but definitely funny.
