Re: QOTD_ what is your favorite bway play/musical/opera (even if you've never seen it on broadway)
Well, I 'd have to say 42nd Street because my Mom and Dad took me when I was sooooooo young. Loved it! It was my 1st Broadway play.BUT.... Les Miserables when, I can't think of her name!.... sings 'On My Own'.... WOW.
I must say that I cried like a baby from beginning to end at the Lion King.
I get that whole musical weirdness from my Mom.... Thankk god.
It's all so powerful

OMG!!! It HAD to be The Lion King. My mom has seen it 3 times and she cried each time. So when she got me tix I told her I was not going to cry. UNFORTUNATELY, I couldnt control the emotions that came over me when the first note from 'rahfiki' came out....I totally lost it. It was amazing!!!

hey I am so happy you responded to this b/c I am seriously thinking of taking FH to see Carmen for his bday.
we wanted to buy season tix, but we are going away instead, but I wanted to get atleast one show in. I saw La Boheme last year and loved it, and we both saw the Baz Luhrman on bway, so I thought Carmen would be a good one.
Is Carmen a good choice for a guy that enjoys opera (another thing was the Zeppherelli sets!)

Fav Play/Musical: Blood Brothers and Les Mis are my all time favorites. Also Starlight Express (it was my first musical, loved that they did the whole play on skates)

Carmen is an excellent choice for a guy that enjoys opera. I saw it for the first time last fall, and we've been wanting to get my father to Opera and my step-mother thought (as well as us) that this would be a good one. It's a fun opera and most of the music is recongnizable. We're taking my father and stepmother to a matinee performance Thanksgiving weekend (two days after we get back from our honeymoon).
