I always go to Christies because my cousin works there..they are kinda snotty and way overpriced, but I love the stylist I use and of course my cousin who cuts my hair.

For future use, what is the name of the stylist you use there?

i actually thought their prices were really good. Ive heard others on here say they are overpriced but i thought they were less expensive than others. Maybe depends on what you get. For make up they charge $30 for regular make up and $60 for airbrush which is the lowest ive seen. And they did my hair, all big loose curls and charged me $40.

when it comes to coloring and highlights they're ridiculously priced but they def have the best prices I've seen for make up

Do you mean for the wedding, or just in general?

I like Nubest in Manhasset, and they are pretty reasonable.

I got my hair done for the wedding I went to last weekend there..just loose curls and the front part pulled up(kinda poofy in the front-you kow what i mean?- very simple) - they wanted to charge me $150. But only charged me $100 because my cousin works there. I thought that was expensive.

the makeup prices are very reasonable and the girl lisa does great work.

wow that is insane...its funny bc i got loose curls too and i was charged $40 but i guess if you say its for a wedding they charge more, although you were just attending not a bride or Bm so shouldnt have been that much, thats so weird.

Re: queens girls (and even western nassau girls)

Hmmmn. Last time I had my hair done in an updo at Christies, they charged me $75 because I had long hair. Not unreasonable. I gave up on the coloring because it cost me $76 for a single process, and they kept wanting to make me a blonde. My friend charges $40 at Creative Hair

For my wedding, I went to Maximus at Westbury, only because I needed to be closer to the RH and because I was picking up my sister in Garden City. Glendy did my updo and Debbie did my makeup.

Probably because they just charged you for a blowout- even if they curled it. They charged me for an updo- even tho they used like 3 bobbypins and barely put it up. I loved the way it looked tho. Plus they charge depending on length of hair and mine in LONG...halfway down my back.

my hair was past my bra strap the bottom part, and all she did was use the curling iron on me, nothing like a blow out but maybe the girl at the desk made a mistake who knows, i wont complain about the mistake hahaha

Spectrym on Austin St.

If you go to Spectrym go to Lisa...she's super sweet and talented.

I had Nadia the last time and let's just say that the girl that sweeps the floors ended up blwing my hair and styling....I was soo pissed that she just handed me off like that...especially after she had me waiting forever.

I agree with Denise..the reception person can be annoying....she was worried about getting her hair done...while I the client sat there and waited.

Let's just say Nadia didn't get a good tip.

Re: queens girls (and even western nassau girls)

What about SPAce Salon in Astoria...Nycki does a great job with both hair and make-up

I normally go to Maximus at the Source mall for my hair, but I had a bad experience yesterday with the Bridal Coordinator over the phone, and now I'm re-thinking using them for my wedding...I'm 4.5 months away from my wedding, but the coordinator didn't even want to speak to me because they apparently don't make appointments more than 3 months before your wedding...that's a bunch of hogwash in my opinion, it's not like i'm a year away from my wedding date! On top of that, the coordinator was very rude and abrupt, barely answerd my questions, and told me to call back in 3 months.
