Question for anyone lighting a memorial candle at ceremony!!

Are you going to play a song while you light it? My mom wants me to play Where you Are by Josh Grobin. I just think that would make me hysterical listening to that song while lighting the candle. I think I might be better of just lighting it with silence in the church. Lighting it alone is going to be emotional enough for me and my family. But, it is something I have to do.

You may not be allowed to bring in your own music if you are getting married in a church. My church didn't allow it.

They said we could bring in taped music. But I think I might be better off emotionally without it.

Iagree, I think it might get yo too upset to play a song like that. I plan on having the preist say a few words so people know what we are doing

Re: Question for anyone lighting a memorial candle at ceremony!!

At my friends wedding a few weeks ago, she had the priest say a few words after the processional and the bride and groom lit the candle before the ceremony actually began. I thought it was nice!

We are going to have the priest say a few words before the ceremony and we'll go up and light them. They won't allow us to bring in taped music and I think any type of 'liturgical' music played on the organ would make me too sad.

Re: Question for anyone lighting a memorial candle at ceremony!!

We had a unity candle ceremony at our non-demonial chapel. It was a civil ceremony but with readings from the bible since we cannot have a Catholic mass outside a Catholic church. (Long story as we cannot find a RC church that would fit our time schedule. We are not members elsewhere that a RC church did fit our schedule.

We did not have any background music playing while we lighted our unity candle. However, prior to the beginning of our ceremony when both mothers lit the taper candles our organist did play soft subtle music. As the music was being played while the mothers lit the tapers all the guests were almost seated, chatting, and anxiously awaiting for my entrance.

Re: Question for anyone lighting a memorial candle at ceremony!!

I am having GM light a candle in the church as they walk down the procession, the the procession music will already be playing. Luckily, my church has 64 rows of pews, so there is PLENTY of time to do this while they are walking.

We had that song sung by a friend of ours during the candle lighting ceremony. It meant so much because the song is so beautiful..
