Re: really good NYC restaurant

June Bride04- Alain Ducasse (at the Essex House). I hear is the utmost amazing! My friends husband is a chef, and he took her here to propose! She said the food was absolutely to die for.

I've been to most of the places listed and they're all really good! (I worked at a TV Network where my boss would take me along to all his lunches/dinners)
JeanGeorge is tricky, some people like it, some don't. All the 'Grills' Acqu Grill, Ocean Grill, Blue Water Grill are AMAZING. The thing about the blue water grill is, they have a downstairs that has a jazz band that plays, it's so cool! I think no matter where you decide, he's going to love it! YOu can't go wrong with any of the suggestions- I'd even add 'The Park' downtown on the list. I'm getting hungry just thinking of all these places!

Re: really good NYC restaurant

If you want something different.... try Rosa Mexicano on 1nd avenue and 59th street. Its Mexican cuisine... and the BEST guacamole you can get in the city. They make it fresh right in front of you.

Don't worry... even if you dont eat mexican you can find something on there to eat. I am a very picky eater. I had chicken one time. Had a steak another time.

Do a search on citysearch to get the number. Its pricey there... and reservations are required I believe.

Daniel is not far from the Plaza, neither is the Four Seasons (where FH proposed). There are some new fancy restaurants in the Times Warner Center- but I haven't been there. Cafe Des Artists and Cafe Botanica are both wonderful restaurants in the area.

I second Daniel.

Re: really good NYC restaurant

last year my husband took me to Accapella (sp?) in Manhattan. It was an amazing experience. Not a restuarant you would go to every week- this place is definately for special occasions. white glove service-the service is the best I've ever seen. The food is Northern Italian-excellent, beautiful ambiance(sp again!) I believe they are listed in zagat and have their own website. THe only thing is they were extremely $$$
Blue water grill was mentioned is also a great choice.
there is a restuarant callled Erminia-very intimate small italian and difficult to get res for, but I have heard many wonderful reviews, we tried to go for Valentines day but we called too late and they were booked...
If I think of any others I will post back! good luck.

I am also dying to go to Alain Ducasse (at the Essex House). I'm thinking of taking FH there for his 30th bday. It's supposedly the best restaurant in manhattan.

i have heard mixed things about this place...........i dont think he is the BEST chef by anymeans..but still very good
