Re: Renamed: Jannshari is calling Xelindrya mean names

I feel your pain ladies with the student loans. I feel like I'll be rolling our kids' loans into mine, I feel like I'll NEVER be done paying. Should have listened to my parents and went to a state school, but NOOOOO I knew everything at 17!! But I don't regret getting my degrees one bit. I think of it as an investment, not debt (or at least I try to)!

Have you guys thought of consolidating your loans. I was paying between 5.5 and 8.75% on various loans (undergrad & grad school) and I just consolidated them into one loan with a 3.5% interest rate. Save me about $80.00 bucks per month. Not a lot but every bit helps!

Re: Renamed: Student Loan Deferment thread.. haha

I consolidated them the second I had the chance. The one good thing I can say about my lender is that for every timely payment I make, they give me a bonus, i.e., they credit my accounts as if I made an extra payment. I think last month I got a $50+ credit on one loan and a $30+ credit on the other. It may not be much, but added up over the course of 15 or 30 years, it's very helpful. And the rates were excellent when I consolidated, which helped greatly!

Re: Renamed: Student Loan Deferment thread.. haha

very cool Jann.

I had something weird happen when I consolidated.

When I went to college I was told I had a Stafford Loan. When Financial Aid said you have X dollars I thought it was all I had so I took half. When I ran out of money I found out why and they gave me the other half. The next semester I got the remainder of my loan.

Bank had me down for 3 loans. Two smaller ones and one larger one. SO I consolidated to one. When they paid off the other two there was a coding error at the bank. I kept getting mortgage loan information in the mail only to later find out (when I bought my car) that the credit report shows I have two paid off mortgages through my bank. How about that for a bonus. It doesn’t take a genius to realize the value of the so-called house would have to have been less than $1000 and couldn’t be right, but I got a lot of good credit based on that mistake!
