RINGS???

Where or did everyone get rings yet. My wedding is in 3 months and I didn't even go looking yet! UGH! Where to go??????

Plus, I found the reception room to be tacky, with fake ficas trees strung with Christmas lights.

What you are paying the exorbitant price for is the ability to have your cocktail hour on the beach. So, what happens if it rains....your cocktail hour is in a room with no windows..nothing special.

RINGS???

I posted before and recommended Flea Market in Levittown. I bought both our rings there. You can haggle with them on price just a little. I would not recommend going to the high-end jewlers. They are terribly over inflated.

I'm looking for a photographer that will do candids and maybe some few posed pictures. The thing is I'm on a very limited budget and we don't want parent albums or video. It seems everyone has these pre-set packages and the ones who don't are, like $$$ and that's just for proofs, plus whatever we decide to put in an album. I want nice pictures, but I don't think they should cost more than the reception. Help.

He is so sweet and very attentitive to calls and emails. Another bride on here has hired him as well. He has a package right now for $3,099.00 for the Millenium package. All his prices and packages are listed on his site. Check him out. I got Video and Photo for 3200.00 when I signed up.

RINGS???

Yes they are over inflated. I went to the flea market (Tri-county) in Sayville area and their's were a little over-priced. I have a weird antique looking (white gold engagement ring with the square diamonds down each side and then it goes into a carved antique look all the way around. It's hard to find a match. I did find one at the flea market that was the exact fit, but it was $670.00 and the weight was so light. I compared the weight to mine and there was a tremendous difference. My setting without the stone was 800.00, and is very heavy. I don't know if I'm getting quality if it's not feeling the same. I'm talking exact size and shape stones on both rings.

Thanks!

Like Arielle, we're paying for the wedding ourselves, too...and I will not compromise on pictures. (In fact, my fiance thought I was crazy for giving up a limo in order to have better pictures!)

RINGS???

Kate,

Yes rings cost alot, but you will only buy one wedding ring. I was in Fortunoffs (not to say that another place wouldnt be good as well) and I fell in love with a diamond band they had. I have gone back since and had it resized and was really happy with their work. All of there rings were very well made, and they have a tremendous selection. I say go for something really good, you will have it forever and you want it to look beautiful.

Where does the book for guests to sign go??? Is it at the church or just the reception? If it's next to the table cards, some people may miss it on their mission to find their name...so should there be a bridesmaid their to remind the guests? What do you think, or what are you planning???

And if you have your registry at F, you get a 10% discount on your wedding rings! : )

Kate - it only took me 2 weeks to get my engagement ring after I picked it out....3 months may not seem like a lot of time - but it really is! My cousin planned her wedding for 250+ people in 3 months - don't worry! You'll be OK!!!!

SMILE!!!!!

RINGS???

My fiance got my engagement ring at Major Jewelers in Massapequa.(there is also one in suffolk) We are also paying for our own wedding so I understand being on a tight budget but I am extremely pleased with the service I receive when I go there to get my ring cleaned and checked. I recently found out from them that they make a band to match my ring and are willing to negotiate when we are ready. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

Wow, Susan that's a strong opinion to have about a vendor, especially a vendor that did not even do your wedding flowers. Are you in the floral business? I was just asking because I saw you posted several messages regarding other florists and also had negative comments. When it comes to these two vendors, there are mixed reviews. Although I must admit I definetly wanted someone who has experience with wedding floral arrangements (not a kid) and someone who I can trust enough where I can relax and enjoy the night before my wedding with my fiance and families, and not go and check my flowers. I must say that after reading about everyones experiences, that I will be very careful who I hire to do our flowers. And in case we happen to come across problems like you've stated, I will have it in writing. :)

Today we pause to reflect upon those who have shaped our character, molded our spirits and touched our hearts. May the lighting of this candle be a reminder of the memories we have shared, a representation of the everlasting impact you have made upon our lives.

Rings??? (Kate?)

Kate, have you found your rings yet?

We ordered our wedding rings tonight. They'll be ready in 10 days. We used the same jeweler we purchased our engagement ring from....he's done business w/my cousin for over a decade so we trust him.

Paul chose a relatively plain band w/detail on the edge - yellow gold. Cost $70. Mine? Well, in order to match my engagement ring, it is a relatively thin white gold w/7 princess cut diamonds across the center. Cost? $550. Sooooooooooo much more than I wanted to spend but within our budget b/c Paul's was simple & inexpensive. Paying cash - no tax.

Rings???

Which jeweler in Astoria did you use? I live in Astoria- we got my engagement ring in NJ (where Jeremy lives) We had picked out a Scott Kay ring and had a jeweler make a copy of it-- ended up saving lots of money-- but it seems that we spent alot more than those who have posted before me-- my ring and band without my diamond cost $2400 That includes 10 princess diamonds--so I guess that is why it was so much-- but compared to Sctt Kay prices-- we saved a few thousand dollars-- my ring alone was $3900 at Scott Kay-- so I guess it is all relative Laura

Astoria Jeweler

Is your engagement ring gold or platnum? My ring w/o stone was around $1500 - white gold w/24 princess cut diamonds. The stone was $2K....

Almaz Brothers: 35-13 30th Avenue. Phone is 718-545-6073. They're open every day but Saturday. Its owned by 2 brothers - Ralph and Yury (Ralph is the guy you'll be dealing with - Yuri is the ring maker guy in the back). Ralph is a sweetie : ) They've been in business since '84.

Good luck! : )

My ring is white gold--what size are your princess diamonds? I am trying to picture it and cant picture that many on one ring-- My ring in general was a lot of money but we both fell in love with it--well actually i fell for the setting and Jeremy went crazy on the diamond--but that is what was important to him

At my shower, my FSIL gave me lingere. I felt a little awkward - b/c I'll obviously be using it when I'm having sex w/her brother!! Not that they don't know that we are having sex, but its not on the forefront of our dialogue (know what I mean?)

I had to hold it up in front of his mom, his aunts...i was so embarrassed. : (

Astoria Jeweler

The diamonds are small but there are 2 rows of 6 each on either side of the stone - the ring is much wider than 'traditional' rings - it is a DeBeers-eque kind of ring. The center stone is .75 ct and set in a bezel setting.

its really different - and doesn't look like a traditional engagement ring.

Thanks.

Sounds nice-- my ring is quite wide too-- and I didn't think about it until my sister in law commented that it doesn't look like a typical engagement ring!!! do you have a picture of it? just curious Laura

I have to go pick out my flowers to match my invitations.

Good Luck

RINGS???

did you ever get your rings? Von Chion Jewelers on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington - is wonderful - the owner is soooo nice. and the prices are not bad - my fiance got my engagement ring there - antique platnium setting w/new diamond. He looked high and low for something in our price range. Now he's got to look for a wedding band to match! But we did find something for my fiance in his display - $350 (i wanted him to have the best one there) let us know how you did!

The guest book should be at the ceremony and at the reception. At the ceremony it should be before you enter the church/temple... near the programs maybe. AT the reception with the place cards or on a separate table that some catering halls have. Good luck.

No need to be paranoid.......just aware. : )
