SAME SEX PARTY HELP!!

Hello friends,

Gay couple in need ofsome advice regarding our pre wedding celebration. We are six months out from the big day and think it’s too much to have an engagement party and a shower before the big day (opposition welcome).

So we have settled on one big party. What do we call it? “Pre wedding celebration?” “Wedding shower?” “Couples shower?”. If we include shower in the name, would that mean we would only get physical gifts? Are we thinking too much?

Also, we have the option of a state park pavilion to do an “I do BBQ” that would be catered or a restaurant buffet or sit down. Which should we go with considering we are having one party? What would you do? If we do a BBQ will our guests think we are cheap and reflect that in what they will give?

Congrats on your engagement! So many fun ideas in here. An engagement party + shower + the wedding is a lot of events in six months…especially if you guys have out of town family or bridesmaids/men who are helping you out, and are planning bachelorette events. But people want to celebrate you, and this is your time – so if you want to do all three, go for it! The I Do BBQ is a really sweet idea and if you include your registry information, people will probably purchase physical gifts for it. Showers are usually more physical gift-y, at least in my experience. If you don’t want things, I had a great experience using Zola for a honeymoon registry.
