Sandals vs. Cruises

My fiance and I were only considering a Sandals vacation for the honeymoon, but some of our friends told us not to consider anything but a cruise. Neither one of us have been on a cruise and we don't know which would be better for a honeymoon. Does anyone have any opinions? Has anyone experienced both?

Almaz Brothers: 35-13 30th Avenue. Phone is 718-545-6073. They're open every day but Saturday. Its owned by 2 brothers - Ralph and Yury (Ralph is the guy you'll be dealing with - Yuri is the ring maker guy in the back). Ralph is a sweetie : ) They've been in business since '84.

Good luck! : )

Sandals vs. Cruises

We went to Sandals and it was great. It's completely all-inclusive which a cruise isn't. You have to pay for soda and alcohol on as cruise. I haven't been on a cruise but I heard they are ownderful if you get the right one. Sandals is only couples and mostly honeymooners which was fun for us. We met people that we hung around with when we wanted to and were alone other times. There are a lot of activities if you like to do things but no one makes you feel like you have to play if you'd rather just relax. I had a greta experience there. I think it's worth considering.

State of the art equip, very high class...one of those people who just plays the music and does not chatter on the mic all night (the attention should be on you, not him!). Been in business since before 1984.....

He did my cousin's wedding in October (everyone danced and had a great time!) and is doing mine this month. Very well priced - we're paying $750 for 5 hours. No handouts (not something we wanted) We're meeting with him next week to outline our program (his suggestion).

Sandals vs. Cruises

I must say that I have been on a Carnival Cruise and it was the best vacation I ever had. The only drawback... you pay for the drinks, which can be alot or cheap. There is such a wide variety of activities to do on the boat and when we stoped in Nassau it was excellent as well. We are doing the Disney Cruise for our honeymoon, so I would have to reccomend the cruise. But... as they say, to each his own! Best of Luck!!

Sandals vs. Cruises

I have been on 5 cruises (Royal Carribean) and they were all wonderful. They are a very classy line...I would recommend cruising to everyone!!! If you are squeemish about being on a boat..then an all inclusive land deal like Sandals is terrific. You have to be "ok" with being on a boat. Its not for everybody. This is a special time for you..so be comfortable.

The real story is that one of the owner of C-O The Green was one of the Original partners in Cartun. I've worked with both places for years. Good reputations and fantastic facilities but brides MUST look at value. VALUE is the quality of food, service and "included" or packaged extras you get for your cost per person. You are looking at two of the top places on LI. Of course they are "pricey" certain times of the year, but you get what you pay for. The honest reality is that Carltuns food is good not great. C-O the Greens food is very inconsistant. The Garden City Hotel is in the same price range and is a better value for the $$.There are some hidden values out there that you need to discover for yourselves. For example investigate the Harrison Conf. Center, DeSeversky Center, Metropolitan, and some country clubs. Many brides are unaware that some private clubs will do weddings for non-members (but they are not allowed to advertise it). These are the places that will charge more but you can rest assured that you will get a well executed function you can be proud of. Also note that all of these places have dates they will be negotiable on. The key to saving money is for you to be as flexible on dates, days of the week, months and start times. If you can do that you will save $. If possible consider having your ceremonies at the hall, that usually offers ample flexibility. And last of all please be very wary of the big mega multiple room wedding factories( I've worked in a couple) and unfortunatly you are just a # to them. If that's what your budget will allow so be it, so long as you know they don't have the capabilities to give personalized service ( especially on the day of the event, it's mayhem). Just a thought.

Sandals vs. Cruises

Well. I havent been either but. I would think that the Sandals would be less expensive. On the cruises you have to pay for your beverages. Sandals they are included. Also my personal opinion is that either you love cruising or hate cruising. I wouldnt want to be stuck on a boat for a week (although you have stops). If one day I feel like sitting on the beach all day and night you can (if you take the Sandals.) Just my opinion. Good Luck

I called his office 2 weeks ago and the woman I spoke to said that, b/c I was referred by the Milleridge, they would give me a comp ride home after the reception or from my home to the airport.

I called yesterday and they told me that info was incorrect and wouldn't give me the car. I asked to speak with Kenny.

Sandals vs. Cruises

I have been on cruises (Carnival) and have also stayed at all-inclusive resorts (not Sandals though). I think a cruise is alot of fun, however if you like beaches and exploring/sightseeing then go for Sandals. I took a Carnival cruise this past summer and just couldn't get over the amount of kids running around!! The nightclub was packed with 12 year olds. I'm not sure if Sandals allows kids-if they don't, then I would opt for that!! Good Luck

At my shower, my FSIL gave me lingere. I felt a little awkward - b/c I'll obviously be using it when I'm having sex w/her brother!! Not that they don't know that we are having sex, but its not on the forefront of our dialogue (know what I mean?)

I had to hold it up in front of his mom, his aunts...i was so embarrassed. : (

Sandals vs. Cruises

ALso keep in mind that on a cruise you eat dinner with a group of people-- you might not want that on your honeymoon Have heard great things about Sandals--- but be careful depending on which you go to If you plan on going to any of the Sandals in jamaica-- I would recommend not leaving the resort so if you wanted to explore that is not the best place to do it

Jack- unlike Therese I thought that the Milleridge offered a great selection of food for not such a crazy price. My fiance and I went to look at about 15 different places and we thought that we would get the most for our money at the Milleridge. The people there are willing to work with you on prices the only bad thing is that the minimums for guests are pretty high and there are limited dates left. We are planning on setting our date for there soon.

That is tru about Jamaica to some extent but there are tours you can do. They're extra but you can go into the mountainsa and ride a bicycle down which was a lot of fun. Or they take you to Dunn's River Falls and you can climb the falls. We found the people outside of the resort to be very nice. But I certainly wouldn't recommend going into the city which can be dangerous.

First of all, let me start out by saying that I am not offended nor insulted by Barbara's or Susan's comments regarding Jericho Terrace. I did not write what I wrote to start an arguement. In fact, you completely took my comment out of context. I was just stating that Susan had a lot of nerve to tell the board the only reason Caroline & Lorraine praised Jericho was b/c it was their hall.

BUT.. SUSAN REFERRED JACK & ROSE SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS BOARD. WHY???? BECAUSE SHE HAPPY WITH THEM. GET THE POINT?

Sandals vs. Cruises

hi..I am sorry about your friend having luggage problems with Tower air. That is definately the airlines fault. !..As far as cruises..I have been on 5 cruises. If you like a big ship, the Voyager is the newest. It has an ice-skating rink and rock climbing..I have heard terrific things about it. Its more expensive, but could be the memory of a lifetime. I havent been on that one yet...might schedule that for February. I have been on the Majesty of the seas (big) to Jamaica and Mexico, Grand Cayman. That was nice, Nordic Empress (medium sized)was nice too..more for tropical island hopping. They all treat you with utmost respect and terrific service. See a travel agent for destinations! I LOVE ROYAL CARRIB. CRUISES..

: )

If you are interested in candids, after viewing the whole portfolio, if you don't see any there ASK ABOUT IT. If it is important to you, you need to see it- and a few diff versions.

Sandals vs. Cruises

I HAD THE BIGGEST DISSAPPOINT WHEN WE WENT ON THE VOYAGER WE RAN INTO ONE PROBLEM AFTER THE OTHER MAYBE BECAUSE IT IS A NEW CRUISE (IT WAS THE THIRD SAILING WHEN WE WENT ON IT) BUT I WAS NOT IMPRESSED THE BOAT IS VERY IMPRESSIVE BUT NOT FOR THE MONEY WE WERE VERY UPSET ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS ROYAL CARRIBEAN. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING A LETTER CAUSE WE WANT SOME COMPENSATION FOR THE TRIP. MAYBE IT';S BETTER NOW.. BUT I JUST FIGURED YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW....

He called the church to arrange a meeting with the priest to discuss getting married there. The priest informed my fiance that because he does not live in Suffolk and attend mass regularly there, other individuals who live in Suffolk and go to the chruch regularly would be given preference. In the end, because we want to get married on a Sat in June, 2002, the priest said that we would not be able to get married there.

My fiance and I are finishing graduate school and plan to move to Suffolk once we get married. We are very disappointed that we can't get married in this church. Does anyone have similar expereinces or have any advice on what, if anything, we can do?? Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
