Re: Silly Questions.....

You're the bride your enterance will 'grand' enough!! I understand that things do happen but being late intentionally just makes you look inconsiderate.

Re: Silly Questions.....

I've know it to be true about being late. But just a bit. You can't really keep everyone waiting to long.

I'll keep my story as short as possible:
When I was married 30 years ago, we had our rehearsal on the Friday night.
1st downfall: When we all arrived, there was a catholic school graduation taking place. We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for the ceremony to be over.

2nd downfall: the day of the wedding:
We arrived on time. My dad, myself, MOH and flowergirl were sitting in the limo until the limo driver got everyone inside and seated.
Then he came out, helped us all out of the limo's and we procedded to line up and get ready for my grand entrance.

At the rehearsal, the priest told us that when we hear the wedding march, we were to head down the isle. OK, we heard the march and the first couple started down, etc until it was time for my dad and I to go.

We go to the end of the isle, my husband to be was waiting with smiles and tears, my dad, raised my viel, kissed me and handed me over to FH. He took my hand, we walked up the 6-8 steps to the alter and there I said to him ' wheres the priest?' he said, 'i'll explain later'.

OH NO, the priest was LATE!!! While FH and BM were outside waiting, the priest came from behind the church asking 'what are you doing here so early?' Waiting for you to get married. The priest never checked his schedule for that day and he was out playing basketball. He thought from the night before the wedding was at 4pm. NOT!!!!!

So here we all were, standing on the alter, no priest, no alter boys, no organist, (the limo driver played) for approximately 10 minutes. When the priest finally appeared on the alter, he was so sweatty, his hands were shaking.

When it was time for the exchanging of our rings, the best man had to hold on to them, they dropped, and as I moved, the rings got swept under my gown. Do I need to continue?

So my very important part at your rehearsal, MAKE SURE THE TIMES ARE CORRECT AND THE PRIEST IS AWARE!!!

30 years ago, I was hysterical in tears, no organist, no white runner, no poems were said to eachother, ceremony was 20 minutes long. 30 years later, we laugh.

Re: Silly Questions.....

Thank you! Yes it was amazing.
Heres a bit more amazing things that happened.

We (the BP) loved and were very into country music and we used to hang out at a country/western bar in Patchogue every Friday & Saturday night. My guys used to tease me that they were going to wear cowboy hats, I would get so upset with them.
After the wedding ceremony, there they all were, lined up wearing the most beautiful off white cowboy hats. They were in good taste. Then at the recepetion, while 3/4 of our guests were on the dance floor, 2 of my guys started to argue. My husband and I were dancing next to the arguement and then Ray said to Paul,'ok, we'll do it right here and now'. I was freaking out thinking a fight was about to break out. well, low and behold, a fight did break out, a play gun fight they both pulled out cap guns and started shooting at eachother. We almost died right there on the dance floor, and most of all, the guests were flipping out. Later on all jokes were done, well some what!

During the course of the evening, my photographer wanted to dummy up pictures. Me dancing with my daddy, us cutting the cake, photos like that. My uncle, went over to the photgrapher and told him 'your at an Italian wedding, they'll cut off your head and through it in the lake behind this place'....My God, we couldn't get that photographer out of our face the rest of the night. He shot off a bizillion pics after that. And yes, we did have color photos 30 years ago...LOL...

When we did the garter/b-k toss: after my husband took off my garter, he sat down and pulled up his pant leg, he had a black/white garter of his own. I took it off his leg as he did with me. When we look back at the photos, the faces of our guests were priceless.

Our memories are priceless and I cherish them every day. With both of our children getting married this year, July and October, I keep in mind some of the ups and downs of our day and try to remind them to check and double check 'everything' hey, you never know what might turn around.
