Re: So I'm a little upset....

I had a similar situation. I am the youngest of three girls and my mother always feels left out during the wedding (father gets to walk the bride down the aisle and dance with her at the reception). She wanted to walk down the aisle with us. Personally, I like the traditional way. I was just honest with her and she was probably disappointed but she understood. I hope this helps

I hear ya.. my mom wants to walk me down too. I never really gave it a second thought though because I thought it was cute of her to want to do this

me too! But I am concerned that the aisle maybe a little snug- could you let her know your concerns about being stuffed in there and make it sound like that is the problem?

Re: So I'm a little upset....

I actually asked my mom what she wanted to do, and she said no it's a moment for you and your father... I agree with the girls, why can't see walk by herself? this way she will have her own 'moment'

I never understood mother's like this, I mean it's your daughter jeeze! If I had my FMIL for a mother I would have the same problem as you.. I'm dreading her dress choice, because something tells me it's gonna stand wayyyyyy out somehow

See, with my mom, I don't think it has anything to do with wanting to walk me down the aisle. It has to do with her not being in the spotlight if she doesn't walk me down the aisle. I LOVE my mom, and we have a GREAT relationship, but sometimes, when she's not getting the attention, she cannot handle it. She's like a small child. I'm just annoyed and upset, but at the same time, I feel guilty for feeling this way. I guess I have to remember that it's just that one moment of my day, but it's not how I envisioned it.

if its about attention...can someone escort her down the isle right before the 1st bridemaid and usher?

Re: So I'm a little upset....

UGH! My mom purposely doesn't want to walk me with my dad since she thinks the aisle is too small and then my dress (and her dress) won't be seen well, I don't know if that would help or not but that is my mother's reasoning....Moms can be such a pain sometimes!!!!!

Re: So I'm a little upset....

Hi... just an idea, have both parents walk youdown but have your mom leave you when she reaches her pew (do a little kiss, blah blah) and then have the good phot ops with just your dad for the last 3 feet or so and also you would just have your dad giving you away. Like I said.. just an idea but I hope it helps!

Good luck!

Re: So I'm a little upset....

Is there anyone that could tell her that you guys aren't going to all fit down the isle walking together? Maybe hearing it from someone else she'll listen. You have to say something, it's your day and you shouldn't be smushed in the middle one of the most important parts of the wedding

Re: So I'm a little upset....

I actually think its a nice idea. In this day and age, why be sexist and have your dad 'give you away' when you can have your parents do it? No offence, JMO....

It is common practice in the Jewish religion to have both parents walk the bride down the aisle. I think it is nice for the photos too!

Good luck with your decision!

Re: So I'm a little upset....

OK, I just thought I'd update my situation.

SO, I gathered all of the older women I work with, and they helped me come up with a way to approach this situation.....so here's what happened:

I told my mother that I ALWAYS envisioned walking down the aisle TO her, and that I NEED to see her there that day. But that I want her and my dad to walk me up to the altar. She slapped my arm and said, OH THANK GOD! I DIDN'T WANT TO WALK YOU DOWN THE AISLE AFTER I REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT!

Can we say...
