Some stuff I learn today...

Hi Ladies

Today I called the Airlines (united) to ask about the problem I have with taking my wedding gown from NY to San Fran, then transfering to Maui, then to Oaho and then to San farn and back to NY. Davids bridal suggested that I call United to find out if I can have someone who works on the plane take my Gown in the garment bag and hang it in a closet durring my flight. So here I am on the phone with a very nice young man and he tell me that passengers who fly coach do not have the same privleges as those who fly first class.

That...GET THIS...I have to roll up my wedding gown and stuff it (I mean literally) into the over head luggage compartment. I almost hit the floor!

Judy - I'd take this to a higher power. Ask for a manager - offer to pay extra money to put your wedding dress in a closet. I've had friends fly up from Washington DC and have put dresses in closets. Quite frankly, I think that whole statement is crap.

I do realize that they can't do this for everyone but for crying out loud - ITS YOUR WEDDING DRESS!! I'd scream - ask for customer service - ask for managers - bang on doors. This would be terrible PR for them.

If all else fails, I'd call "Ask Asa" on Channel 4. Seriously - from a corporate perspective, that is just bad business.

Thanks,

Thats why I drag all my questions to here, I really need and enjoy the feedback.

I hear you about screeming. I went through all the trouble of having it pressed and getting everything just right. I mean this with all honesty.... I cant wait till we say our vows and its party time! I think after all the preperation, planning, nightmares, stress...etc etc I really am going to need this vacation!

I told Paul about this last night - and he agreed. He travels for business all the time and also believes you should push the issue.

You could even ask the folks at AAA who to speak with. You do pay their fees and they are a lobbyist group. This whole thing is obnoxious.

I"m hoping you just got a bad customer service agent and this will all work out for you. Post or email me privately and let me know how you make out! : )

Judy! An idea!

Okay - my friend suggested that you ship it via Fed Ex! What a great idea! I'm not sure what kind of box you would use - but you can insure it and get confirmation of delivery.

You might even make arrangements through the hotel for pressing the dress when it arrives. I'd imagine they've dealt with this before.

I hope this helps! May be less aggrevating than fighting the airlines......

Don't feel bad, I didn't think of it either - but I will let her know you liked the idea.

Judy - how'd you make out?

How did you end up handling your dress? Did you make arrangements to ship it or did the airline do the right thing????

Forgive me if you've already posted it & I missed it. I'm living moment to moment these days & can't remember what I did an hour ago! : )

My biggest issues are getting rid of this cold (thanks Paul!) and dealing with the bouts of dizziness I get from time to time (too much stress with work & the wedding).

Judy - how'd you make out?

I spoke with my fiance and he didnt go for it :(

I guess I am just going to have to brave it this time and see how it goes. I have an appointment with a dry cleaner on Maui who is gonna open up the store early for me.

I know your weddings coming soon too. I am trying not to think about the dress issue. I just hope that maybe I will get a cool woman who works on the plane who will sympathise with me and give me a break.

Judy - watch News 4 @ 5PM

For what ever its worth, Asa is doing a spot on airline service and who to call with issues at 5PM Today.

I'm sure it will all work out - how could anyone say 'no' to a bride?????? : )

What are the average prices out there you all are paying for a photographer? Would be greatly appreciated if anyone could give me an idea. Estimates I have range from $2500-$3300 (includes albums and the like). This seems quite high. Was expecting to pay $2000 max. Was I wrong?
