Stupid question- first dance vs spotlight dance??

I thought they were the same, are they???
I didn't realize they were 2 separate things. So what is the spotlight dance and when does it take palce during the reception?

Your first dance is when you are first introduced at the reception and your spotlight dance is your dance together after the cake and parent dances.

Hmmm I am confused too. So which one is 'your' wedding song? Do you pick 2 songs as a special dance?

You don't HAVE to do anything. If you want to dance just the two of you then yes, have a spotlight dance.

Your wedding song is the first song after they introduce you as hubby and wife.

eta: everyone usually joins in on that dance.

we only had a first dance, and people joined in halfway through. So we had no spotlight dance. so you don't HAVE to do both.

We did our first dance alone and followed it with another song everyone to join in. Our first dance song was short and we wanted to make sure there was enough time for the photographers to get shots of us alone.
