Make sure that you don't just pick a pretty color, but rather a color that you are going to love in pictures. Think of the bridal party as a whole. I personally am a neutral kind of girl. I like champagne, browns, even black. Although, I once saw a beautiful summer wedding and the girls had light pink dresses~it really looked pretty.

I'm a summer wedding - late July and I'm doing wine. I was concerned at first that would be too dark for summer, but it looks good on everyone and it photographs well. You can always off set the darker colors with summery flowers. My girls will hold burgundy and pink roses. The dresses are strapless 2 pieces by Bill Levkoff for the women (jr. BM is wearing a different style). I love deeper colors but didn't want a fall wedding since summer is our favorite season. I think it's all how you accent the color. Dark blues with light blues, reds and pinks, browns and champagne, etc. I hear the concept of light colors in the summer no longer really applies... it's all about the bride and what we want (almost everyone tells me - it's whatever you like or want - you're the bride! Granted, not my FMIL, but we'll get passed that), in fact that really is the new ettiquette for the most part - within reason of course...

All the dresses I chose are in my photo albums/profile. The jr BM's was ordered in burgundy as opposed to the red in there, but you will see the Levkoff dress in wine.

I love the Bill Levkoff BM dress you posted. I am actually thinking about going with that one too! I was also going to do a Tiffany Blue but decided that it would probably be too bright for what i was going for to be the main color...too much blue. So I am going more with a sea blue, sky blue and sand color scheme. So far, I love it!

you dont have to use a summer color, go with your favorite color or whatever you want. my weddings in august and my BM are wearing black dresses, my wedding colors are black white and silver.

We're using spruce: a deep green with hints of blue. I'm probably using cream and pink flowers also.

Thank you everyone for your info. I love the neutral colors like champagne, but soemone mentioned that in pics it can look ivory and the BM's and bride may look the same and not stand out, thats a good point. I want my BM's to stand out. My theme/flowers are white/ivory/blush pink, kinda all in the white family with a touch of pink. I think a color dress would go nice, sage, ice blue, etc etc Thankssssssssss

I tried on this dress in gold and it looked fabulous (for a friend's wedding but her sister was 4'11 so it looked really bad on her and we switched to a diff designer). I personally prefer the shorter dress styles for the summer because its so hot. Especially in satin.

Anything bill is a great choice. I am Latina as is almost every girl in my friend's bridal party (those not latina are african american) and we are all ahem...'curvy' girls. We got junk in our trunk and then some, but Bill Levkoff's chiffon fit us all wonderfully.They have nice satin linings beneath the chiffon to give them some structure. Most other desginers of chiffon make them too clingy. Only reason she didnt go with Bill was becuase his color choices for chiffon were almost nill.

BariJay is another designer thats beautiful but affordable. LOVE this dress.... My dresses for my BM are by barijay but the colors are probably waaay too loud for you :)

I like the non traditional Bm dresses(meaning strapless satin a-line sheath straight to the ground. I wanted my girls to be sexy and young which they are lol) so I loved BariJay designs. Wonderful fabrics and quality and trendy styles affordably.

This is the dress I bought for my girls but they are wearing red, orange and pink.
