Re: Support
I've been doing pretty much everything with my mom. FH would really rather buy a house but he knows I want a nice wedding, so he's not getting in the way. I love planning, so I don't mind that he's pretty much left everything up to me. He gives me his thoughts when I ask and he knows he's in charge of music and tuxes, so he's been good in that respect. I'm not as close with my BMs as I'd like to be and my MOH lives in Brooklyn so she comes out sometimes but not as often as I know she'd like to. I think it'll all start to come together more as we get closer!!

Well now that I think about it, my FH is ALWAYS doing something around the house (of course not cleaning-rather making a mess) but he is a Mr. Fix-it-All-By-Myself, and he is always doing something in the yard...so maybe I shouldnt feel so bad that I get to do plan it all by myself.
All mine does is make a mess- even after he knows I cleaned or the cleaning women came-
but he works alot harder then I do- to provide for me and our lifestyle -
Plus my Dad told him is only job is to show up- it is taking it very seriously!

Re: Support
I am definitely doing the whole planning myself.I will be the 10th child in my family to get married..although I am the last and the baby girl..they are all kind of like whatever about it.
My friends have been ultra supportive and that has been so great. I wasn't much help to them when they got married since I was pretty selfish a few years back so there support has been something I will remember forever.

watch what you say to kids- it sticks with them!

Re: Support
I have the best support of my mother,FH, MOH and that is all I need considering that I don't want everyones opinion...considering their's is the most valuable to me and they know me the best.....not some Wedding Planner.

FI and I are doing everything ourselves. We have almost no support from everyone else. Both of our familes ask questions, but noone is involved. FI has been great and has gone with me to every appointment.

Well I wouldn't say I'm doing all the planning alone. I get a lot of support from my mom and my sister (MOH). As for my FI, he's interested but he's not extremely involved. We live together so we talk about the planning. To be honest, there are way more things that I want 'my way' that my FI doesn't even have an opinion on so his attitude is 'whatever you want'. I know when it's time to pick things like the menu or our HM he will be more involved.

Re: Support
i think my FH is the only one who is being supportive. i feel like everyone else - including my parents and sister - are treating it like its no big deal. and it kinda pisses me off with that attitude - i just wish i had someone who could get me pumped about dress shopping, flower arrangements, etc.and FH is great - but no guy can replace a girl when it comes to planning a wedding.
hopefully things will change as my wedding gets closer - but i know the feeling of 'i have this whole thing to plan, and i have to do it all myself' - very overwhelming.
I agree. I don't have any sisters and my mom is too involved in her own life to be of any assistance. My MOH lives far from me and it basically leaves me to fend for myself. My fiance works long hours so it's understandable that he's tired when he comes home. I also wish I had someone to pump me up. Oh well, it just stinks when you don't have the support you need. Especially when you don't know the first thing about planning a wedding. I've said to myself, 'If I could earn a Masters degree then I can do this wedding stuff, no problem....I think, lol

HA HA - that made me feel better - you are right - if i could figure out 1/2 the stuff i have in life - i'm sure i will figure this out as well - but it would be nice to have someone to be excited with. it also ***** that i am an independent person - so i rarely ask for help. oh well - good luck to all of us that are on our own!!! i'm sure our wedding days will rock - and besides we got this site if we have any questions.........

my mother is very involved , supportive and pumped up...only child and a girl..she is loving it.. fh is involved as far as coming to all appointments and discussing ideas with me, but i know the little things he really could care less about...he will be more involved when i really need him to... fmil and ffil have given us $$ for vendors and seem like they want to be involved but dont really know how, i do my best to try to involve them

Re: Support
well sometimes i feel like i'm marrying my mom b/c she's so involved. The two times my fiance has come with me, once to book the reception hall, again for a food tasting, and then to start the registry, i found myself enjoying the planning stage and this 'process'' sooo much more. people alwasy say enjoy it this is such an exciting time-- well not when your mom stresses you out.. i have stories upon stories of how she does these little things that piss me off when i'm at a vendor.. i respect her and am happy for the support but she doesn't know where to draw the line.. i have complaints upon complains if anyone can relate FM me b/c I don't want to bring the world down! Its just silly..Welcome New Vendors
