Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

We are taking ouras ahead of time. We want to take them on the beach and we want to enjoy our guests and our cocktail hour!

Everyone I know who has done this raves about how much easier it makes the day.

You have to do what is right for you, but IMO - there is nothing wrong with doing it before.

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

i would definitely take pictures before for a number of reasons:

1. Best for Photos: You're at your most beautiful early in the day right after your makeup is done 'cus everythign is still in place - hair, makeup, etc. No smudgy or smeared eye makeup when you're taking photos after the ceremony 'cus you know you're gonna cry during the ceremony

2. You can get the posed shots out of the way before the ceremony so you can enjoy the cocktail hour

3. you'll have alone time with DH so you can exchange gifts or words. it'll be hard to do so once all the guests arrive

4. it'll be less hectic! tha'ts my advice from other girls who have chosen to take pictures before

5. and finally, it's YOUR day, you do whatever you want! :D

Personally, I would wait til after the ceremony. Call me old fashion, but I know I will remember the look on fh face when he see's me for the first time walking down the isle. I just don't want that ruin by him seeing me beforehand. JMO

TOTALLY agree with this. I know most brides do pictures first and often the photographer wants you to also, but I want him to see me for hte first time walking toward him about to be his wife.

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

I'm waiting til after the ceremony, b/c we have a 3 hour time inbetween. BUT, my cousin did the pictures before and it was wonderful! We were at the aboretum and her now-husband was behind a huge tree. The photographer had my cousin standing about 10 feet from the tree and had her call out his name. When he turned from behind the tree, we all had tears in our eyes including him. It was so romantic and perfect!!!! Don't let anyone tell you different if you want to do it before hand.

Coming from someone who has already gotten married....take your pics BEFORE!!!!! I took my pictures leisurely, without being rushed and got a lot of great pics. We did a 'special moment' so that my DH could see me for the first time and we have it all on film. I think it's much more personal to see each other alone first, rather then in front of 200 people. We were able to really enjoy the moment. After the ceremony, we sat in our suite for 20 minutes, ate, then enjoyed our CH with everyone else and were able to dance at our ENTIRE reception. It was a great choice and I'm glad we did it, even though many people tried to talk us out of it!! Good Luck.

I agree 100%. I had the luxury of almost 3 hrs of pics before. They came out awesome and had the entire evening to enjoy ourselves.

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

Here's some of our pictures from when we first saw each other before the ceremony. We still had a lot of emotion, and the best part was that we had this special moment just by ourselves (and of course the photographer). Plus we didn't have any pictures to worry about during the CH or reception, and that was REALLY great. We were able to get all the shots we wanted without rushing

Plus we had time to take fun shots:

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

I went through the SAME exact thing. We were going to take them before but some of my family members ( mom & sister) were really upset by that. Then it started to bother me too because deep down inside I didn't want him to see me before the ceremony. After a HUGE fight with FH, we decided we would wait until after the ceremony to take pics, and he would not see me before the ceremony . We are going to take them during the first half of our cocktail hour

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

We're going to take all of our formal family shots before the ceremony. I remember from some weddings I have gone to....gathering everyone can be time consuming!! I was recently in a wedding where pictures were taken before the ceremony. The photographer & videographer captured the moment of when the bride & groom first saw each other.

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

i'm taking my pics before, but i was worried about it not being speical, so i thought since we are taking our pics on the beach we will both be pullin up in the limos and before we get out we will be blind folded and have my bridesmaids walk me out to the beach and have the groomsman walk my FH out to the beach and then have us back to back and then take off the blind fold and turn around to each other for the 1st time that day and have the photographer there to capture the moment. dont let anyone tell you what to do its your wedding, your day and you can have it any way you want! good luck:)

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

We took pics before the ceremony and had 3 hours at 2 different locations and we have AMAZING pics!!!! I wouldn't change what we did, it was SO worth it especially seeing the look on DH's face when we saw eachother for the first time. Our photographer had me come around a corner at OWG and his reaction is priceless...

We were both so emotional (and so was our entire BP) and seeing eachother before really calmed us both down. It was the best decision we ever made!

When I came down the aisle for the ceremony we were both emotional again... seeing eachother before didn't affect how we felt at the ceremony. That is a totally different feeling. And we got to go to our entire CHour... you only get 5 hours, why not enjoy them all. We didn't want to be taking pics when we could be mingling with family/friends!

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

We are taking pictures before our ceremony, this way we can enjoy our all of our wedding. Plus we get more pictures that way. It's your day you do what YOU want to do!!!!! Never second guess yourself, take your pictures when you want and don't let anyone ever tell you what to do on YOUR wedding day.

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

We are taking pics before the ceremony...I want to enjoy my cocktail hour!! One of the pictures I am telling the photographer I must have is when FH sees me for the first time. As long as they capture a picture of that it doesn't matter to me if it is before the ceremony.

Re: Taking pics before your wedding!

We did not see each other that morning prior to the ceremony and we did not regret it at all. We would not change a thing.

I know several couples who saw each other prior ot the ceremony and did not regret it either.

There is no right or wrong. Just what your FH and you feel comfortable doing.
