Teachers: What are your typical hours?

I am to clock in by 8:30. I am there by 7:45 most days though.. I do my lesson plans for the week on Monday so my supervisor can see them. The kids leave at 2:30. I leave at 3 or at 3:30 if I have a clinical meeting - I work in day treatment.

my hours are from 7:30-2:30

FH is brand new to teaching - he's in by 8:20am, and sometimes doesn't get home until 7pm!!!

He works about 35 miles from home. School ends around 3:45, but now he coaches softball for the girls (grades 4, 5, 6) until 5:30pm for NO PAY - he has to wait until all of the girls are picked up before he leaves, then it's at least an hour drive home - sometimes longer if it's raining.

He plans all weekend.

Poor guy!

NO pay????????????????? What district is he in??? The union is allowing this?

factor in planning, grading, panicking over the planning, and you've got a pretty full day, especially for a new, inexperienced first-timer!

Again that is the SCHOOL Hours! That doesn't include grading, planning, preparing, calling parents, meetings that might take place after school and other things like that. Is it rough no, But I definitely work more than a 40 hour week and most of my lunch periods are still spent with students anyways.

That's just the work day- that does NOT include alll the additional work that has to be done, often at home and on the weekend. I think many of the people who have responded here have addressed the need to put time in before and/or after school.

Not to mention everyone's favorite activity, calling parents!

I used to spend a good amount of time doing that.

the way i see it i work way over 40 hours no and it is meaningless to me.....but if i work over 40 hours a week and it has meaning and i am enjoying what i do, it is well worth it!
