If someone could FM me, I would appreciate it as well. Please also tell me *exactly* what they do. I am such a control freak, I wonder if I would have a problem passing the control to someone who I hardly know.

As a past bride who had a drama filled morning, I have to agree 100% with BriBri. All of my issues would have been avoided had I hired a DOC. Unfortunately I wrote it off early on as 'not necessary or in our budget'. However, with everything you pay and save for a wedding, it's not that difficult to save a few hundred more (or even a thousand) and hire a DOC. I wish I had...mostly I dealt with family and non-professional vendors and it was hard for me to be 'tough' on them. Girls, listen to Bri!

I'm glad if the DOC has helped, but I worked two jobs and didn't need one. JMO..

Honestly a lot of this stuff, basically everything on the list, is what people in the South call 'the Mistress of Ceremonies' its an honorary title the same as asking someone to be a reader.

If I wanted a DOC to do this stuff and didnt want to spend the money I would ask a close friend of the family or maybe someone's FI or GF I was close with. I went to another website with a list of 'jobs' for different people, printed it out and handed it to Evan's aunts. They were thrilled to take on the role.

I would be more than happy to help anyone with this on their wedding day. I just like helping brides

Thats true about dampering their day too. Lucky for me my bridal attendent did a lot, but if I wasn't counting every penny at the end- and I was also convinced by Oheka that I didnt need one- I would have done a DOC too. Although I wound up tipping her $300 bucks so I might as well have gotten one lol

I hired one. I started thinking about all the personal touches I wanted at my wedding...there was no one else who could do this for me... My Mom has passed, my MOH is going to be busy taking pics with me and I really didn't trust anyone else. I preferred to have someone who's 'Job' it is then a friend or family member. Besides, our wedding is early...I have to get up EARLY...I do not have time to oversee things are getting set up the way I specifiy. This has also saved me a lot of stress at this point in time...one less thing to worry about!
I also am not going to be interested in finalizing contracts, etc. the week before. DOC do more than just day of. They assist with favors, programs, invites, etc. I too am a 'control freak' and want to do these things myself. I do not even want to enlist the help of my bridal party.
Our DOC is also assisting in the rehersal. I want to enjoy every minute...not have to be telling this one and that one what to do.
Also...my DOC is available to 'chat' anytime I need her. As she says...regardless of the time of day. She's always there.
I recently had to move unexpectidly...changing our address & phone number with credit cards, etc. was bad enough, but then to have to do it with ALL the vendors... our DOC did that too. Love ya Jodi!

I think you get a higher quality of service at Oheka than you would get at other halls. I think a DOC would have made my day a lot smoother. I loved my bridal attendant - she was great and friendly and by my side the whole day - but she couldn't make the problems go away because she didn't even know what they were to begin with, whereas a DOC would probably have known my issues before the wedding.

At the same time, probably 50% of the services and products offered in the wedding industry are completely unnecessary (as my father repeatedly told me throughout my wedding planning) but we all want to have the best of the best so we make ourselves believe that all these things are vital. And I was no exception!

I spoke to a DOC that I am thinking of hiring. She is also a lawyer part time and she only does a limited number of weddings. She told me that she will never do more than one wedding in the same weekend. With all of her packages, she includes a review of your vendor contracts. She seems to be so organized, really sweet, yet not afraid to stand up for the bride if she has to. She said she likes the weddings because it is not as sad as some things she does as a lawyer. It was very interesting to talk to her. I am going to see how much I spend on other vendors and hire her if I have enough left. FM me for more details.
