one of my BIL's did thid and it caused a big argument with the rest of the family, it is still a sore subject... no one likes one of my SIL and we did not sit with her..... think carefully before u do this. JMO

I have been to a couple of weddings where there was no assigned seating.I did not have a problem with it, but you could tell that some of the older people were confused.
Also, one of the weddings did not have enough seats to accomodate everyone at once, so it was literally 'Move your feet, lose your seat'.

Yes -- I've been to 2 weddings like that.For 1 I truly hated it. There were 10 people from the 'office' but the tables could only seat 8. It was so awkward to try and figure out who should move and where they should sit.
For the other -- they didn't really serve dinner, and it was only abouy 75 people so it wasn't a problem.

I went to a wedding like that and i didn't like it. I felt like a total idiot asking ' Is someone sitting here?' Its like when u go to the movies and u can't find a spot.

Most weddings that I have attended did not have assigned seating, granted they were all in NC. I never had a problem with it, but that is probably because it is the common way to do it down there.Up here, weddings are more formal. So it really depends on what type of reception you are having.

i was a guest to one. it felt wierd. i'm a kinda person who needs order for things to look and run smoothly. it just looked a lil... unorganized and sloppy.

Yes, and it was cool. No chaos at all.THe only thing I didnt like was that I just ended up sitting w/my friends that I see everyday instead of meeting some new people.

Yes, I did not mind but the older guests complained.
