LP - That is very sililar to our Unity Candle. We had one custom made for us at the Renaissance Faire. It was $40, I think.

Since you can see the layers of the wax in our candle (hard to see in this pic), we had it made with one layer of blue in the white. We thought it would stand out more on the altar.

Good thing about ours is that because of the way it was made (high melt temperature wax, with a low temperature wick), we can burn it all the way down and it'll leave a hole down the middle. We can eventually put a tapered candle in the middle. We plan to burn it every year on our anniversary.

THxs JLP - that is one of my concerns that the Lavender will be too light to really show up in the pics. I would love to see yours
maybe i will ahve them put an outline of deep purple to make it stand out ? thxs for yr input

My Jewish FMIL begged me to do this so no, I'd say that not only Catholics do it. It's such a pretty sentiment and really not religion based - go for it!

Here is a picture of my candle. They can make it with any color 'stripe', we chose a medium blue. Violet would be very pretty!!!

Actually, the unity candle is not considered a religious ceremony, just simply a nice touch that can be used by anyone.

I love this style of candle, they are very different.

I got mine off Ebay, its white on white (they'll do any color combination). I'm not doing the flowers below it, but since its a wide base (4') I haven't figured out what to use to hold it.
