talk to your union leader!!!
there has to be some kind of OSHA policy for this...
If nothing was done then I 100% agree with Erica!! The union needs to do something!
Since the principal is being sooo casual about it, my first guess is that the rifles belong to HIM! And, he's not making a big deal of it, b/c it will get him into a $hitload of trouble!![]()
Those were my thoughts exactly. Maybe he's being so nonchallant (sp?) because he has something to do with it. For all you know he was about to go nuts and you stopped him. Definitely call the cops and let them know about this. Who knows what else could be hidden elsewhere?

That's just his attitude in general...his has absolutely no social skills (but he is'retiring' this year..some feel that he was forced to quit)I really don't want to go into work today...I mean maybe it's nothing, maybe it's a f#@$ed up parent trying to scare us, maybe it's some one trying to see what they can away with, or worse. But I'm telling you the first thing that popped in my head was Columbine. It's a really scary situation.

My school always has parents walking all over the place...they think they own the school and some teachers commented on how they think that maybe a parent wanted to see how we would react with a situation like this or how long it would take for someone to find a gun. We were just coming up with different ideas at the faculty meeting yesterday.

I work in a HS, and I would definately be freaked out if that was me. Like Yabba said, you should call your Union Rep.

Um...you need to listen to yourself. I don't mean to be purposely 'flip' here, but you just said the principal is 'retiring' but there is somehow an idea that he is being forced to quit...
Do you know what THAT is considered, god forbid something DID happen?????
MOTIVE!
If I were you, I would call the authorities....your principal and his reaction to a weapon a school grounds sound *highly* suspect, IMO.

You have a duty to those children to call the cops about this. Maybe it is nothing BUT I, personally, would want my child's teacher to proect my child. In fact, I count on that! If you don't want to go back to work, why allow those children to enter a posibly dangerous situation?Welcome New Vendors
