Re: We are going to lose the house
Yes we had to get permission to test the soil. The test most homeowners probably won't let you do is the test where they blow air into the tank as it may brake the tank (that is what people have told me.)For those of you with an underground tank there is insurance you can get if the tank does leak so you don't have to pay all the environmental clean up costs.

Re: We are going to lose the house
We pulled out of the house
I just did not feel comfortable with a lot that was going on. The owner is very shaddy. I am very upset though. Dh loved the house and was willing to do all this work but I was not. I have been a mess and feeling so guilty. I have been crying all day

I'm so sorry to hear that.
We're doing the same with the house we just found out has inground tanks. I totally feel your pain. Try to remember it's for the best and something better will come along. Good luck!

OH I know exactly how you feel. I have had my heart set on so many and imagine us living there and then it falls through. Everything happens for a reason, at least thats what I keep telling myself. YOu will find your dream home and sit back and laugh at all this one day I know it

I am so sorry. I have to tell you we lost what I thought was our dream house and 2 weeks later we found and got this house. Your house is out there and if it was truly that house then the owner will realize what an as5 he's being and do the right thing

Most have an oil tank in the basement. If there's no basement then under a deck or something but above ground.

Thanks for the explantion. I know my parent's had their tank abandoned and filled w/foam. Their new one is still underground but done according to the new EPA standards.

I wouldn't be surprised if the seller comes back to you a few days later to negotiate on this.Wait them out. Its more of a pain in the arse for them to hold onto the house and have to go through a closing all over again because they will continue to pay taxes plus any mortgage interest they may have.
