go with what you want. you'll never please everyone - there are people who don't like certain fruit, there are some who don't like chocolate, etc - so i say go with what YOU want. if some guests don't like it, they don't have to eat it.
AMEN!!!
We were on the fence about our cake...we really went out of the ordinary for ours...and you know what...it was a HUGE hit!!! People want DIFFERENT! They're tired of the same old thing! Go for what you want! You and your FH want chocolate chocolate chocolate...get it!
Oh...we had Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting!

Re: wedding cake??
I would def get what you and your FH want. And especially that the two of you want it (not just one of you) I think that is even more reason to get it!!! Who cares what everyone else wants. It is your day. When they get married, they can get the yellow cake. FH and I are going to have a chocolate cake as well. He love chocolate so it is really for him. I could care less, I will eat any kind of cake (dessert is my weakness). But do what the 2 of you want. If your guests don't want it they don't have to eat it. But many people will love it!

I wanted to be different as well and went with all chocolate. Chocolate devil's food cake with chocolate ganache filling (like the inside of a truffle). YUM!
I'm coming over on your Anniversary!

Re: wedding cake??
Couldn't you make different tiers of the cake a different flavor? Cost shouldnt' be an issue if you book at a reception hall since the cake will be included in the total package. You cant go wrong with chocolate cake. Everyone loves it. :D If they don't, they can have the other pastry usually provided at vienese (sp?) bar.
My experience is that most people are so full by the time dessert comes around that they wont eat the cake anyway. :)

Re: wedding cake??
I personally HATE fruit filling in cakes. FH likes it, but I don't want to not eat our wedding cake. We are going to ask if they can do more than one filling, but if not, we are going to do chocolate filling. Imagine us doing the cake cutting and I gag on the fruit filling? That wouldn't be a pretty sight!Welcome New Vendors
