I am curious. I went to Mikasa outlet out at Tanger Outlets - and I found a Votive candleholder for 4.99 each. If you order them this weekend - its 15% off for Presedents weekend. I can order over the phone. But, how much should I spend on a favor..is there a rough estimate? I dont want to look cheap, but I also dont want to spend a lot of money on favors. The item I chose seems insignificant..(its a single small votive holder made of cut crystal- comes with a tiny candle) and I hope it doesnt look chinsy. I just thought that anything from Mikasa would at least be classy....HELP..need your thoughts on this...

They have very minimal work to do on my dress (take in the zipper, a little, hem, and bustle). Still charged the $150 for alterations + $150 for bustle. I guess that is how all bridal shops work. I go back in 2 1/2 weeks for 2nd fitting. Hopefully that will be it. Than I just have to make a 'pick-up' appt to get dress. Warning...the FULL balance of your order is due at the 1st fitting, even for alterations. This is for bridesmaids as well. Good Luck!

You should also get pre-approved for a mortgage because the housing situation is so crazy on Long Island, it's on the market for an hour and already has 5 bids on it...no joke. You must remember, you and your fiancee are now one entity and no matter how you busted your butt to have a good credit rating, his/hers counts just as much and if it's not very good, you need time to work those things out. We're learning this first-hand.

I had also seen some cute candle favors at a Mikasa outlet in PA. I thought about buying the Candle holder and then buying nicer candles to put in them. I thought the candles they came with were a little cheesy looking. But you should use your judgement. That sounds like a good deal and people really respect the Mikasa name.

Good luck to all of you as I've been through the home buying experience and it's not easy. Keep looking and you'll know when you find the right one.

Considering the wrapping is important. I went to the Mikasa Outlet in Riverhead and also checked out the Mikasa web page....I actually purchased the Monterey Wine Bottle Stopper - including wrapping - for $5.95 each (I ordered 70 pieces) from a local store. The retail price from Mikasa was $6 - without wrapping. And...some places will not charge you sales tax if you pay in cash...

Check out their web page (www.mikasa.com) and then go to a few favor stores...they may be able to cut you a better deal & save you the hassle of wrapping all those gifts (I'm sure you have enough to do already!)

Check out this web site for great candle favors http://www.everlastingcandle.com They're candles are handcarved and they can match the colors of your wedding. You can also have your name and date put on each candle.

Discount Bridal Service provides dresses at 20 to 30% off the retail price quoted. If you email me the dress information (manafacturer, what magazine, page number, issue you saw it in) I can give you a quote. I have been a dealer for this company since 1994. We do approx. 85% of t he retailers. W+W, dessy, bari Jay, jim Helm, levkoff, new image...

When I first booked the room, I expressed my concerns to Tiffany. My FMIL will be using that bathroom all night (the reason why we booked it is b/c she is on oxygen and she needs everything on one level b/c she can't climb stairs). Told her it needed to be cleaned & prepped...she said she'd put a flower arrangement in the room.
