wedding favors

Hi there! I found this web site and have enjoyed reading everyone's postings. I was wondering if I could bother you for some help. I am looking for suggestions for wedding favors. We are trying to keep the cost down since we are on a budget, as I am sure a lot of us are. We had thought about placecard frames, but we priced them and found them to be a little too pricy for us. Does anyone know where we might be able to buy them and do them ourselves? We also thought about putting a personalized chocolate bar on everyone's plate, but we weren't sure whether it was better to try and do them ourselves or buy them. Another idea we have tossed around involves a theme. We are going to disney on our honeymoon and wanted to possibly give each table a disney theme at the reception, but we are having trouble brainstorming ideas for this one. I know that these ideas are added expenses but we wanted to see what we could come up with. I appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. I am from Virginia and weddings are not as extravagant in the South. I hope to be able to make the get together on the 28th. Is it just girls?

Hi Beth, I went to a wedding this weekend and was very impressed with their favors. In lieu of the traditional favor, the bride and groom made a donation on behalf of their families and friends to the American Cancer Society. This was very pertinent and touching since a family member has just been diagnosed with nonHodgkins lymphoma.

Make A Wish foundation funds special requests by children with terminal diseases. It would be neat if you could somehow help fund a trip to Disney for a terminally ill child. Or perhaps there is a charitiable organization that is close in heart to yours or your fiancee's families.

Whatever the foundation, you can print up a note that explains the donation you have made in lieu of favors. Tie it up with a pretty ribbon. I guarantee the good feelings will overwhelm you.
