Not to sound bratty, but no, we're not broke. Well, I'M broke, but that's just because my boss doesn't like to pay me a livable salary lol. But as a whole, we're pretty good. I'm comfortable with where we are. Yeah, we got nauseous when we dropped like 400 at BBB last weekend and barely even scratched the surface of things we still need, but it was more sticker shock than anything.

Ask me this in 3 weeks though, and I might have a different answer.

Just try not to get caught up in the last minute, 'oh we need to buy everythinggggg' phase! How exciting to have a new apartment. Did you have your shower yet? Did you get a lot of good stuff for your place from that?

Yeah, we're trying to only buy the things that are ABSOLUTELY necessary for now, and wait till after the wedding to accumulate the other things. We had the shower in August, but it was fairly small. We got most of our appliances, silverware, drinking glasses, some of our dishes (enough to hold us over for now)...the basics. But we had to buy all of our bedding ourselves, plus additional sets of sheets, pillows, etc. We didn't get any bath items, so we need to get the shower curtain, rings, liners, rugs, etc. We were still missing a lot of utensils...a lot of little things that just added up, but we needed. We're big cookers, so for us it was necessary to have those things, and now we don't have a dishwasher so we needed a rack, we needed a laundry bin because we need to do laundry at FIL's/laundromat...etc.

We still have a good two trips to BBB to get the last few staples we need

yup!!!! the only reason we survived is b/c pay day was the day before the wedding!!! but we were 100% strapped for cash!!!

SAME HERE! THANK GOD for getting paid the week of the wedding.

I hoped and prayed someone would give us a card with money in advance...never happened yet somehow we made it. Everything will be fine.

YES! we were. it was so sad to empty my savings account but it goes right back in the day after the wedding!

Do try dollar tree too! It sounds silly but they have SO many home staples - i.e. big spoons for the kitchen, $1 instead of $6 at BBB!

I have 3 weeks to go and we are broke broke broke!!!! Can't wait until its over honestly.........LOL..........

We were, but DH was having financial issues and was out of work too, so it was kind of an extreme case.

We were literally buying the bottled water for the reception on a credit card . I was so depressed about that and how broke we were....

But it was totally worth it

we paid for EVERY single expense for our wedding, no help at all....and we still weren't dead broke.

I was freaking out anyway though because I knew we weren't going to get to the bank the day after, we still hadn't added each other to the bank accounts, and we were leaving for our HM in Europe...so we needed to make sure we had enough to cover us for 2 weeks abroad too!

Me and FH are paying for the wedding ourselves but his parents said that they would give us around 5000 to help us. We are really trying to do it on our own and we were doing awesome. Maybe just needed to take some money just for the tips..... BUT I woke up this morning and saw a bill from FH's college for 600 dollars !!!! Mind you over 300 is a late fee because he didn't pay it last month. Way to go !!!!!! Yeah so now I'm nervous!

I think because I paniced about money throughout the entire process I ended up with way more money than what we needed. It helped that my job was crazy busy the two months before and I bill by the hr so I was making tons.

We werent broke at all. We spent all of our own money with a tiny bit of help from the parents and we were still fine.

Honestly, in the end I never looked at how much things cost. I just bought whatever we wanted or needed. At that point I didnt care about saving money, I was trying to be stress free and make things easier for myself.

We were. It was kinda scary at the time but once we stated opening all our cards from the wedding it was much better. We took a little bit of spending money out of that for the HM, and it didn't even make a dent.

We were financially affloat THANK GOD. We were saving money forever and had a lot of help. Just remember that in the end, it will be all worth it and everything works out.
