Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
more questions!
I kind of LIKE the look of the chairs at the WB- I am doing a Shakespearean theme...they are 'throwing' the chair covers in for me, but do you think I need them? did anyone or would anyone forgo chair covers?
also, what about the ice sculpture...I am not normally a big fan. do they give you a choice of design...has anyone done something else (wherever this thing will actually be put- I don't even know that!!)
thanks for your ideas ladies!

Re: Westbury Manor-Brides (We decided to make this our official thread)
Hi Jessica,It's funny - I'm the same way. I never liked ice sculptures and I don't really like chair covers either (esp. since our colors were ivory and burgundy so the color of the WM chairs was perfect).
Ice sculptures are extra anyway so I simply didn't get them. As for the chair covers, I had to specifically tell them to remove them for my wedding. They seemed a bit surprised because I think most brides like them, but it was no problem at all.

We didnt get any ice sculptures, but I heard on our seafood boat there was a whale ice sculpture and def chair covers! We had pinks in our wedding and the chairs would have matched BUT the elegance is taken away IMO if you dont use them- and they are FREE. There is a HUGE difference in the appearance. Remember a little accent color from the CP and petals whatever you use to decorate will compliment the chair covers. Too much color- the rug is also pink and burgundy!- will just look like too much.

wow- looking at it, you're right. it looks beautiful! thanks
as for the ice sculpture, they 'threw' it in for 'free', but I was thinking I could switch it for something else I want more. that's why I am curious to know where it goes, in case i need something else to replace it.

Posted by girlygrl33Do they still allow that? I was under the impression you couldnt make your own menus. I didnt but very pleased with thiers,
Posted by babybride
I made my own menus. I wanted to list out all the food courses so people would know what they were eating. We had quite a few people attending that had food allergies.
I made my own this past November - they asked me if I'd be providing my own. It didn't seem to be a problem.

PAST BRIDES:
Did you greet guest individually at their tables (I am trying to avoid this so I can enjoy the party) or did you greet them at the CH? Or- did you do like in days past and have them greet YOU at your table?
I think I might do the CH mingle...
Honestly, I had them greet me on the dance floor!!! I never sat down and I still got to see everyone! I only walked over to the older people and a handicapped relative. It worked out great, provokes more dancing and less sitting!

Another question to the past WM brides who got married during the day...
How long after the reception did you actually get to stay in the bridal suite?
My reception is until 6pm, and they told me I will have the bridal suite until...um, 6pm. It's not that I'm planning to stay until 7pm or anything, but some of my family members coming from the city want to change before leaving (I probably will want to change also). Do you think there will be time for that, or are they going to literally kick us out? We will also need some time for giving out tips and stuff I assume...
I had a Saturday day wedding that ended at 6. We hung around until 6:30. They were setting up for the next wedding though.

Just thought I'd share, I went to a wedding yesterday (June 19) and everything was very nice! I enjoyed the food especially: cocktail hour-calamari, pasta, sausage, paella, cold seafood salad...entree I had the stuffed shrimp-very good and husband had the filet mignon, also very good! They served this ice cream dessert w/rasberry sauce - loved it. The day was perfect, the ceremony was outside and so was the cocktail hour, there was also morning hospitality before the ceremony which was very nice.
