What are alternatives to a tennis bracelet? They're too expensive!!!

Okay... so my fiance has all these things that HE wants. A nice chess board, Play Station 3, a gym membership, etc.

Besides Les Mis tickets for my b-day, all I can think of that I want for my wedding day present to wear ON my wedding day is a tennis bracelet. But all the ones I like are $2-$3,000, and there's NO way I would want him/us to spend that much money.

Does anyone know jewelry? Are there any non-costume alternatives to diamonds that I can get that has the look of a tennis bracelet? I want smaller, back to back 'diamonds' with no gold in between and nothing on the sides... strictly 'diamonds'.

Any clues?

Thank you!

Re: What are alternatives to a tennis bracelet? They're too expensive!!!

Have you tried all jewelry stores - like Kay's, Zales, the high end ones in the Malls?

Some of the private stores may be able to hand make them for you, but I don't know for how much.

My DH found a beautiful tennis bracelet for me at Kohl's, but it does have the platinum btw each diamond.

Don't laugh, but I found this tennis bracelet at Walmart.com: CLICK ME It's a single strand of real diamonds (1 ctw) and it's $298.

ETA - The diamonds are slightly lower quality than the more expensive alternatives... but the more expensive alternatives are all around $2K +. I'd probably go with this over fake diamonds... but they do make some really convincing fake diamonds - like someone else mentioned!

Re: What are alternatives to a tennis bracelet? They're too expensive!!!

sarah, best place to get quality jewelry for less: costco (believe it or not) and everything comes with an appraisal and certificate! they have nice stuff... other than that, if you want to go to a jewelry store i HIGHLY recommend where i got our wedding bands (christian bernard in the walt whitman mall)... speak with jake!

also, i'm sorry but i'm not so firmiliar with other types of bracelets-- diamonds are so big it's hard to find one without diamonds... but, i also think that you should not settle and if you have your heart set on a tennis bracelet (you'll be wearing it on your wedding day) that you should go for it-- just try to find a good deal... so check out costco and CB in the mall.

Re: What are alternatives to a tennis bracelet? They're too expensive!!!

My DH had gotten me one to wear for our wedding day at our local jewelers. It was a promotional item, white gold S bar tennis bracelet-it was beautiful and it was only $250 so I say check with your jewelers!!!

We have gotten really good prices at the NY Jewelry Exchange in Massapequa. As to tennis bracelets, I haven't looked at them so I can't tell you specifically about them.

Re: What are alternatives to a tennis bracelet? They're too expensive!!!

There is something called moissanite that many jewelers are using to replace CZ's with something much more diamond-like. In fact, some people are actually using it for e-rings until they can afford a real diamond. It looks JUST like the real thing, and sparkles too. It's not cheap, but it's not diamond prices either. If you are really interested, you could probably have something made with it.I know Carole's Corner in Northport can do it for you, I got a necklace from there with it that looks like a soltaire diamond.
Google moissanite bracelet and see what you come up with. HTH!
