to learn that you are not always right...and the subtle art of compromise

this is what went wrong in my 2nd serious relationship...both of us would never say we were wrong nor would we settle for less than eacj of us wanted..(even if it was completely stupid)

1. Appreciate who you are and waht you have to offer
2. Educate yourself
3. Live apart from parents
4. travel, esp with girlfriends
5. Break hearts and have heart broken
6. Be financially independent...know how to pay bills, get bargains
7. Learn to cook(still working on this one)!

For me, that is really simple. I always wanted to find my career or at least a job that I was happy and secure!! My mom gave me this advice many years ago. Unfortunately, many dead end jobs later, it hasn't happened for me yet!!

I completely agree. Spending time alone and actually appreciating it. I have no issues or qualms when FH, is out and I am not. I know how to entertain myself. I have a career. I have dated many many guys that were wrong for me....i know that the grass is NOT greener on the other side of the fence. Fh and I have broken up and gotten back together...We know what it's truly like to miss each other...and definitely 'vacation' with friends, go 'out ' with friends....and that could be a good thing to continue after marriage as well....

TRAVEL. Live abroad or far from home by yourself so you know you are truly self sufficient.

Date several men so you know you've got the right guy for you!

Try to be happy for friends even if you are not happy. This shows that you are able to celebrate with them as easily as they can cry with you.

Learn to accept that not everyone will be happy for you when you are happy. This will be important in marriage and life.

I def think that every female should live on their own before moving in with their husband. I have lived on my own for two years(since I was 22) and let me tell you that I have learned to become totally self sufficient. Also, I have learned to be comfortable being alone as well(which was very hard to get used to at first, Now I LOVE it).

I also think that every girl should get a solid education and make a career of her own.

These have been the two greatest things I have done for myself !!!

I have three words for you guys: FULL SERVICE, AAA hahahha
or i call FH LOL or my dad!


Definetely learn to occupy yourself and maintain your 'girl time' or 'mom' time you can't rely on FH/DH to occupy you 24/7 i learned that a long time ago!
Also, learn to take care of a home & hubby

Girls, ALL of these are soooo true. I guesss there isnt many left you all hit the nail right on the head... Hey maybe thats one we should learn how to do HE HE
Also I feel you should learn how to love yourself before you can really love someone else..

Live alone.
Have their heart broken so that they know how lucky they are to have someone to love them.
Travel alone.
Know what they want to do with their lives.


Gosh, there are so many more things, but I can't think of them right now.



I TOTALLY AGREE!! There is nothing live travelling alone and living alone. You really konow what you are made of.

Others I thought of

It is okay to ask for help, just don't give up helping yourself

You don't need to move out of your parents house to be indepent. You can live at home with mom and dad and still have your own life or you could move out and still have them pay your bills and help you. It is not one sided

Don't push too hard to cut the apron strings that you push away entirely. Find balance in your relationship with your parents before you get married and it will help you AND your parents after you leave.

I think the woman needs to learn and accept unconditionally that the man is the lord commander and master of the house.... his will is law!.... OK.... before you all tar and feather me .. I'M JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!! haha JUST A JOKE!!!! JUST A JOKE!!!! LOL.....

Allrighty.. being serious now.....

I think the woman needs to make sure --

She has all her finances in order. (ie. pay off debts, loans, CC bills.. avoid all unnecessary expenditures of money after the Wedding and HM.. there'll already be more than ENOUGH things to have to pay off.)

She should sit down and discuss what she and her FH want to accomplish in the first year,,, 5 years.. 10 years...

She should take care of herself.. ie. a doctor's appointment that she may have been putting off.. (eye, gyno, dentist, etc.).. learn to practice self-meditation (yoga is great because I have heard the 1st year is a BIG change so any way to hold down stress is always a good thing).

If I think of more, I'll let you know.
