Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

I think January and February are the lowest price months. We got married February 16th and paid $69 per head plus tax and gratuity at the Watermill. We were thinking about doing it March 1st instead and the price went up to $79 per head so we stuck with February.

Good question. I am glad my parents don't read this board. if they did, they would hate me. i have them convinced that all weddings cost as much as mine

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

I got married in December a week before Christmas. We had the whole place to ourselves. I paid $50 a head at Jericho Terrace and everyone raved about the food and service and thought we spent a fortune. think normally its $100+ per person.

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

I believe Lent marks the off-peak months - - end of February and all of March. I would assume any time after Valentine's Day you could get a little better rate, but honestly, I think day vs. night, and which day you pick is more of an issue on pricing then the month.

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

You will see that the price will drop from October to November, expecially for water/beach views.
Atlantica is gorgeous, right off the beach, but it's a bit pricey.

San Souci has a waterview. It is perfect for a small wedding, it was our 2nd choice. It was moderately priced and had an new englandy feel and I heard the food is great. Another great thing is that centerpieces are included in the cost of the wedding, that will save you at least $75 per table!) - I didn't know this at the time.

We also looked at the Port Jefferson Country Club - it has the most amazing view. The November '03 date they quoted us was very reasonable, and in my opinion, the lowest price you will find for the view. FH would have loved it (for the $$) but I wanted an outdoor ceremony so November was out.

Other places that I was interested in with waterviews but were booked are:
Giorgio's
Crescent Beach Club
Lands End

Congrats & Good Luck!

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

THAT IS SO TRUE. I AM A TEACHER ALSO AND EVERYWHERE I WENT WAS PRETTY PRICEY DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. AS SOON AS I WOULD INQUIRE ABOUT A SUMMER WEDDING, THEY KNEW RIGHT AWAY I WAS A TEACHER. I WAS TOLD THE TEACHERS COME IN ASAP AND BOOK UP ALL THE SUMMER MONTHS. THERE WERE QUITE A FEW PLACES THAT DIDN'T HAVE ANY SAT AVAILABLE ALMOST ALL SUMMER. SO I WOULD DEFINITELY AGREE THAT SUMMER MONTHS ARE FAR FROM THE CHEAPEST!

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

check out stewart manor country club. we are getting married labor day weekend and the price is great. It's warm & cozy, if that is what you are looking for. (it's not on the water, but we do not mind, and I don't think guests would either. I rather them spend the time with us anyway. And if it rains (knock on wood) that view is wasted

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

April is being considered an 'in' month as well as Sept. and October. According to the first quote I got from my catering hall, March, Nov. and maybe Dec. were the second lowest....Jan and Feb. being the lowest. Try www.lessings.com and check out the various sites...they give round about pricing, we have Timber Point at $53 a head (without taxes) for March 6th 2004.

GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!!

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

I am getting married in January, and as long as it's not New Year's eve, you should get a good price. Same for february, except for Valentine's day weekend

Re: What are the lowest price months for a reception?

January, February and March are the least expensive months to book. This was the case at ALL the catering places we visited. We ended up booking the Middle Island Country Club (exit 66 off the LIE). They charge the same prices all year round and they are very inexpensive. They are wonderful and the place is really pretty. Our price pp is $71.53 including tax AND gratuity! If you do a buffet dinner it's even cheaper. Hope this helped.
