Yeah, I'd stay away from Port Orleans, I believe that it's the only moderate that will fit five people, so it's often overrun with families. Some of its rooms have trundle beds. It is a lovely hotel though. Another moderate that you might want to try, that I've stayed at many times is the Caribbean Beach, I love it, but it is a bit of a pain without a car. There are seven (I think) villages, so if you're relying on Disney bus service, the bus has to go around to every village, and it takes a good while.
If you're willing to spend a bit more, definitely go for the boardwalk. I LOVE the boardwalk! It's adorable, and you can walk to epcot from there.
I also recommend Cirque du Soleil, La Nouba; it's by far my favorite Cirque!

Just wanted to add, that I'd stay away from booking package deals. You're better off buying the hotel and park tickets separately. Unless you plan on spending a lot of time in the water parks, and pleasure island, I think the ultimate park hopper is a waste, the regular park hopper is just fine. Another advantage to the regular park hopper is that your unused days never expire, wheras with the ultimate park hoppers, if you have a four day pass, it will expire in four days, even if you only used it on three days.

I have planned our last trip to WDW and I am planning the first half of our honeymoon now. So I might be able to help you.

I would recommend - these but largely it depends what you want in a hotel and in what you find the most appealing - each person will have a different opinion on all the hotels -

Grand Floridian
Polynesian
Animal Kingdom lodge
Wilderness lodge
Yacht club (although I have heard mixed reviews)

Your best bet would be to check out some photos and reviews at these sites - I am happy to help you if you FM me!

Bob Schliesenger's Unofficial Guide to disney is a GREAT book - either buy it or get it from the library - He is NOT affiliated with disney so it is more of an unbiased view (although sometimes too blunt)

Disboards This it the disney vacation planning as LIW's is to wedding planning - great posting board with very knowledgeable people

Mary's Mousesavers This is an amazing site with EVERY discount out there (updated everyday) for all the codes and discount tips for a disney vacation - also gives you codes for things such as 1) car rentals, 2) airfare, 3) hotels, 4)tickets etc.

Deb Willis's page - all ears net This has a ton of photos and info about the resorts, AND menus from EVERY SINGLE place to eat in disney - both sit down and counter service

These people are disney fanatics and know everything about WDW and will give you the best advice.

If you want to stay at the boardwalk, you may want to think about renting from a disney vacation club member...it would be soooo much cheaper for you. There is a board on that website...go to DVC forum and then renting/trading points. We are definitely going to do this on our next trip!

Carribean Beach is moderately priced. It is so nice , we are going to stay there for our honeymoon. They also just opened a new value resort, POP CENTURY. It's really cute. I mean there are kids EVERYWHERE, it's Disney World hahhaha so don't not book a hotel because there are kids around. I know some have less than others, but I Guess that just doesn't bother me! anyway, keep in mind that as long as you stay on Disney Property, you can go to any hotel, and use their facilities. I LOVE DISNEY!!!

We just got back from Disney.
Here are my favorite Hotels in order.
The Grand Floridian (there is nothing like this place it is stunning)
Yacht/Beach Club Resorts are beautiful as well as the Boardwalk inn
Wilderness Lodge
Those are the top 5 for me...Let me know what you decide!

Just got back from staying at the Yacht club and it was wonderful. So close to the boardwalk and Epcot. Very convenient for adults.

We stayed atthe Coronado inside Disney, it was nice, and the price was GREAT
