I had my second shower yesterday, and one of the best gifts I got was a huge beautiful basket filled with 2 wine glasses, a water relaxation fountain, a bottle of wine, candle, candle holder & soap set filled with bath salts, body lotion, soap etc. And then to top it off the basket was decorated with all fresh wildflowers from their garden. It was such a wonderful gift, and in the card it said to use all these items to relax before the wedding...I wish I had a picture to send.

I saw this once and I wish someone would do it for me.
The gift giver filled a huge baskets with tons of Christmas tree decorations, ornaments, garland a star etc. I thought that was great because for your first christmas you don't really have all that stuff.

The couple was also getting married in Oct. or Nov. so timing was also great.

My aunt got my SIL something for each holiday. Like Christmas ornaments, then I don't remember exactly what but something to decorate the house with for Thanksgiving, Easter, Halloween, etc. It was really cute!

Seriously what bride dosent need/ wouldnt love that?!?!?!?! lol and if she dosent want it i'll take it!

Would she like a guestbook for the wedding? GuestBook Store These are personalized and are very original.

Does she like wine? You can make up a basket of wine bottles and tie labels around the top that say - first night in new home, first Christmas Eve, first V-day, first anniversary...

I didn't get anything like this, but I was hoping for it. I wanted a little bag/basket of stuff just for me and the honeymoon: a nice beach towel, the 'just married' flip flops, 'just married' bikini, a trashy romance novel, a candle, massage lotions, nightie, etc... things along those lines. I know I would have really appreciated that. I think we get so much stuff for the house, that it's nice to get stuff that's a special treat for us. I also like the idea of giving her a spa gift certificate- maybe a half hour massage and manicure/pedicure.

I got a few nice baskets....
-one had 2 wine glasses, wine charms, a wine rack, a wine chiller, coasters, wine etc...

-one full of holiday towels for the bathroom and kitchen. My sis had been collecting them all year

-a laundry basket full of a lot od essential things (soap, detergent, aluminum foil, pledge, clorox clean-up, sponges, brillo etc) This is really comingin handy now that we are in the process of moving into our new apt.

-honeymoon bag, it is a tote bag with a pic ofa dress and tux on the side. It had 2 towels, a borders gift certificate, aloe(I always burn!), sunscreen, bride and groom hats, just married flip flops, a bride tank top.....

I got 2 unexpected gifts that I love. One was the Waterford Lismore cake knife, which we used on our wedding day. My MOH gave me that and she also gave me the matching cake stand.

I got so much stuff not from my registry that was great. I got a basket full of BBQ stuff. It had a Grilling Cookbook, lighter, skewers, a BBQ wok, corn on the cob holders, and some other stuff. Another thing was a cake gift bag. It had cake mix, and cookie sheet, cake pan, measuring cups, and ingredients to make cookies like sugar.

I LOVED the lingerie I got.

Also - I had registered for a margarita set and one fo my friends took it and made a whole themed basket with the glasses, pitcher, tequila, tortilla chips, salsa, candles, etc

Any kind of themed basket is so thoughtful and can be very inexpensive.

I just had my girlfriend's work shower to go to and I didn't want to be empty handed, but I already got her a gift for her regular shower, her bachelorette and I'm giving her money on the wedding day.

So I went to Target and got flip flops, a tropical print photo album, some relaxation CDs, Sunblock, Island scented potpourri, candles, massage oil, disposable cameras, and a tropical drink recipe book. I put it in a nice basket and tied some ribbon around it to match the colors of the items.

The whole thing cost me $40 and 10 minutes to put together and people were making a huge deal over how great it was and how time and expense it must have taken. Little did they know....

light the red candles on your first valentine's day together as a married couple

light the gold candles on your first night in your first house together

light the xx candles when you find out you are preganant with your first child

I love these ideas. I was going to also suggest the honeymoon tote with the just married flip flops, beach towels, SUNBLOCK (my sis got 2nd degree burns on her HM), etc.

I was at a shower the other dya and someone gave the bride a nativity set. Another neat idea was a huge basket filled wth baking supplies, flour, sugar, etc etc.

Holiday baskets are also a great idea. But you need to start about a year in advance! You get a few decorative items from each holiday.

This was already mentioned, but my favorite was the decoration idea. My friends got 3 big baskets, each had decorations for a different time of year. I'm looking forward to decorating for the fall and Halloween!

Ok..heres what I bought for the basket? Did I leave anything out?
-Basket
-5 bottles of wine ( going to attach tags that say 1st christmas, anniversary etc..'
-a Lever corkscrew
-Wine charms for glasses
-Wine bottle charms ( long ones and shirt ones)
-White Zin Scented candles
-Vineyard scented candle
-Mongramed Marble wine chiller and stops.

Thats good enough right? I want to put it together and close it up..did I forget anything?

I bought fake grapes and wine leaves( duh..grape leaves) to decorate the basket with?
