Re: What to throw at Bride and Groom after Ceremony?

At my friend's wedding years ago, my FH tried to open the bottle of bubbles and wound up dropping the entire bottle over the front of my dress.

We were charged a refundable 'flower removal' fee of $200. so if there is one petal on the ground, we lose that money.

I was going to do the ribbon wands, I still might depending on how much time I have. It would be nice for the kids. I wish I could just buy them, I'd rather spend the money now than take the time to do it.

you know it's funny: they ship the butterflies in, and butterflies are very fragile-- so the thought just entered my head: what if they die during shipping?? then everyone goes to open it and looks toward the sky for them to fly out-- and they look in the box and they are dead-- YIKES...

wonder if that's ever happened

That actually has happened. My friend was at a wedding that did the butterfly release. She said it was like a massacre. If anyone touches the wings they can no longer fly, she said it was really terrible butterflies all over the ground, it was bad!

I've seen people release butterflies. They come in little cardboard holders and each person gets one and when the Bride and Groom walk out they are released. I'm not sure how much it costs to do this because if it's a lot maybe it's more worth it just to pay the money for the guy to clean the roses up??

The butterfly thing is not for me, I like the petals. We are not allowed to throw anything at all-- NOTHING, not even bubbles which just pop. We decided that we are just going to do what we want regardless and not say a word to anyone about it: so I'm throwing rose petals.

you go, girl! lol

We're doing rose petals, which we are allowed to do.

We're also lining our aisle runner with rose petals, which we haven't checked to see if we're allowed to do... not mentioning that we're doing that. Just doing it. Once they're down... they're down!

EXACTLY!!! lol... rosalie told my sister the same thing, she was like: don't ask if you can or cannot, they will just say no you can't-- just do and once it's done it's too late!! LOL

They gave me a booklet of rules about 15 pages long with the most ridiculous rules-- so I took it and threw it out the window and said, I'm doing it whether they like it or not and considering because I'm getting married on a Sunday they refuse to have anyone there because it's too long of a day for them-- it won't matter anyway, there won't even be anyone there who normally is at the church during weddings-- i had to hire another priest to marry us b/c my priest refused to marry us on a sunday...

It does, I was at a wedding where they did this and it was so sad, not many of them flew out, they were all half dead. It upset me A LOT

Re: What to throw at Bride and Groom after Ceremony?

I definitely wouldn't want a bunch of horrified guests...not to mention that being the 'highlight' of the day, and what people remembered...

Re: What to throw at Bride and Groom after Ceremony?

We used that puffed heart-shaped rice that is safe for birds.

It looked like traditional rice in the pics and it was nice to give out the little organza bags filled to the guests who attended the ceremony.

Re: What to throw at Bride and Groom after Ceremony?

I went to a wedding where they used poppers. Those are those plastic bottles that you pull the string and confetti string comes out. It looked very pretty with all of the colors.

Re: What to throw at Bride and Groom after Ceremony?

I was going to suggest that puffed rice, cause that's great.

I used an 'herbal' mix. Which should be bio-degradable, so no clean up.
