Re: When to bustle?
I bustled as soon as we were done with pics---right before our entrance.

i wanted to bustle it RIGHT after the ceremony. But they wanted it for pictures so i left it unbustled. It wasnt that easy at first bc i had to hold my train and my cathedral veil while walking around lol...but in the middle of taking pictures i bustled it.
I also had wanted to bustle it right after the ceremony bc after i walked out of the church i looked at the bottom of my dress and saw how black the bottom was and even on the train had a big black stain so i freaked, but then soon after i realized i just had to get over that fact lol
after the ceremony just ask your photographer if they want your dress unbustled for pics, if so then just bustle it right after pics
Black stain??? I think I would have died ... how did you not get upset about your train getting so dirty?! That really stresses me as our dresses are similar.
honestly, your dress WILL get dirty, theres no way that train is going to drag across the floor in the church, then outside, it gets dirty. Just dont let it stress you out and dont get upset from the beginning...i did that when i walked out of the church and saw how dirty the bottom of my dress was but then after you get over it quickly. Theres nothing you can really do to prevent it, you have the bottom of your dress just dragging across the floor and its white lol so i figured this is just something brides have to deal with it.
Can you see the dirt once bustled?
you can still see it a bit, but also not really that noticeable since most ppl wont really see the bottom of your dress. Plus my reception the lights were off just lighting from candles and dj lights so not like ppl were really able to notice. Trust me i know it freaks you out now thinking of your dress getting dirty but it will be fine. Like i said i freaked out when i first walked out of the church and was getting on the bus when i noticed, not to mention i got some orange stain from some flowers at the church on the bodice of my dress but they were able to take that out at least thank god...the bottom theres nothing you can really do, i was upset for the first few mins but then i realized that i still had to go take pics and the bottom of my dress touches the ground so of course when walking it will drag across streets so will get dirty and i just have to let it go. Plus with it dragging on the floor the bottom gets a bit scratched you can say...just have fun that day it wont change anything
The only time i notice it in pics at the reception is when dh took off my garter, you can see in the pics the bottom is dirty but most of that was underneath so cant see when i was standing.

Re: When to bustle?
I bustled after the ceremony. But if you still have pics to do, do it after those...

Re: When to bustle?
i hate thinking about how dirty my dress is going to get - but like denise said, there is nothing you can do and it happens to everyone - even just dust on a clean floor will show on a white dress that is dragging across it - i plan on not looking at it at all

lol that is a great plan. Its better to get over the idea of it getting so dirty beforehand. Now looking back i think of how stupid it was for me to get so mad...i was about to get on the bus and i had to hold the train in my hand and turning around to go pick it up i looked down and it was FILTHY, i just thought OMG NO not this dirty just right after the ceremony. But then i realized of course its going to get dirty, like you said, even any dust you walk across your dress will pick up the dust. I cant believe how much i freaked out when i saw the dress, i guess i expected it to get that dirty later on in the day not when the day has just begun lol. Also there were stains on the side of the dress too i think those bothered me most at first
But then i was fine, realized it is what it is and when taking pics i climbed stuff, sat on street floors, up against a van. When i got to the reception i did pay attention once to how dirty my dress was...DOC was able to take out the stains on the side of the dress so wasnt that bad.
Bring white chalk with your or something you can clean it off with, just the sides though bc the bottom will continue to keep getting dirty throughout the night
