Where to purchase a qipao/cheongsam?
My Fh is Chinese and wants me to get a qipao/cheongsam as my second dress. I have no idea where or how to shop for one of these. It seems like there are a lot of rules about it. Can someone please help? Thanks!

I assume you mean those red dresses the women wear? You can easily find shops in Chinatown or Flushing, Queens.

Does he have any sisters or female relatives/friends that you can turn to for tips?

It's not that simple since I don't speak Chinese and don't know the traditions. A lot of these places 'negotiate' prices so I can easily get ripped off if I don't know what to look for.
He isn't close to his extended family, has no Asian friends, and doesn't have a sister. I feel awkward asking his mom because she 1- has expensive taste, 2- doesn't really speak directly to me since she is embarrassed about her English, 3- I asked her to go wedding dress shopping with me and I got rejected. I might ask his brother's girlfriend.

LOL - your FH sounds like a male version of me! I'm surprised he wants you to wear the red dress considering he doesn't sound like he is super traditional. I debated if i wanted to wear one, but i realized I love my white dress way too much and it's a waste of money to change into another dress for a couple of hours. I will see if I can find a particular store for you.

Thanks Winnie! I think he likes the 'look' of the red dress more than the tradition.
