Re: Who plans your shower?

Truthfully, my mom planned my entire shower. she felt that she could never put that kind of pressure on the girls in the BP. She knew things she wanted for me and didn't want to impose anything on anyone else. My MOH is my sister, so the two of them did most of the planning, with my mom doing the majority of it. My BP did help w/ some ideas and they helped me the day of the shower and also gave me a BEAUTIFUL gift!

Re: Who plans your shower?

I have a huge problem with this but mine is just one girls opinion. First of all I know etiquette states that the brides mom should not give the shower because she shouldn't be asking for gifts for her daughter. However be aware that showers are not the basement get togethers that they were when our moms got married. My mom would never dream of expecting my MOH or anyone else to give me my shower. She thinks it's an honor for her to do it. I was once asked by this girl to be her MOH, we were not close at the time but I'd known her all my life. Well her mom expected me to pay for everything. From the invites to the place where we had it to the decorations. EVen expected me to get her the wishing well, chair and umbrella. Let's just say that I made the invites on MS Publisher. I did not pay for the party itself because I told her mom that if that was what she wanted it would be in her house and I'd make the food. I also made the favors for less than $2 each. I refused to rent the ww, chair and umbrella so my mom did. I also bought her all of her everyday china. Maybe I am so bitter because she never did get married and the wedding was probably off before her shower took place. Too embarrassed to tell anyone. Nice huh. Sorry I had to get it out and now I feel much better!!! To get back to my answer. I would check with your MOH before expecting her to do anything. Being in a bridal party is expensive without hosting the shower. It would be unfair to the MOH to assume that she could afford it.

Re: Who plans your shower?

One more thing your mom could ask for help as in with planning ideas, getting addresses of your friends, addressing invites and having your bp get there early to set up anything that needs to be set up.

I know why this bothers me so much. Read my post above. I totally agree with your mom. Ok now I have to stop replying to this post.

I couldn't agree with this more. I am nervous about my mon throwing my shower. I know she will do a great job, but the 'old fashioned' stuff bothers me. I am glad that she is planning it with my 2 MOHs and my FMIL, they will keep everything together in terms of stuff that I want. Not to sound ungrateful, but I just want my shower to be perfect.

Re: Who plans your shower?

Everyone does it differently - It used to be the responsibility of the Bridal Party - but now that things have gotten SO big and $$$$ - My Mom and my sister (MOH) planned everything - My BP gave me a very nice gift !
