Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

April 16, 2005...we wanted to get married in the spring, and there is a discount from nov - april at our hall. i needed it to be in the middle of the month based on my job (i was an accountant and i couldn't take off for the first of last few days of the month)...but i quit my job, so now that doesn't matter.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

always wanted a May wedding.
Being Jewish, it had to be a Sunday, because in the summer sun sets late, so waiting for Saturday sundown, would be too late.
But, wanted a Sunday that people had off the next day.

Thus, Memorial weekend Sunday was perfect!

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

well, when we got engaged (Aug 2002) we set the date that night.....
*May 16th, 2004*
we then had ALOT of probems, family wise, so i waited to plan because i wanted the dust to settle (my parents were against it).. and i wanted them to be there, so i waited for them to come around....
and waited...
and waited...
so then it was too close to the date to plan anything, and they hadnt come around... so we said how about ....
*October 2004*
nothing. (we aren't very good at planning!) plus we werent sure if we wanted to have a NY wedding with the family or Vegas wedding.
so then, we FINALLY said, 'ok we HAVE to do this! How about Feb. or March 2005?'
I knew i wanted either
*Feb. 28th* or *March 1st*
i dont care if they are on weird days (i am getting married on a Tuesday) .. I just wanted it to be the last or first of the month.
We have lods of birthdays and stuff in Feb, so i chose March 1st.
So there you have it....

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

ours is 05-05-05.. we picked it because its a great number. i've always thought it'd be cool to get married on a date like that.. i just needed to be married before 12-12-12. haha.. people keep telling us to wait a year but 06-06-06 just sounds a little freaky.. even though it is our anniversary.

and for the LI wedding 05-22-05. i liked it because it went along with the date theme.. its kinda the same forwards and back. plus our hall wasn't booked for that day.. so it worked.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

We both always wanted a Fall wedding and our September and October months are already jam packed with birthdays and anniversaries so we chose Nov. Then it also wound up being the day after his Mom passed away and she always said that when she passed she didn't want it to be sad so we decided to have the wedding around there.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

We thought maybe we'd go with November - he didnt want summer and I'm in education so I didnt want the beginning of the semester - so that got rid of September. . . We got engaged in April of '04 and spent one day looking at halls (I hate shopping). October was pretty much booked - so that was out. I loved the Westbury Manor but I didnt think I would be able to meet their minimum (200 people) in order to have the Manor room for a saturday night, plus it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. So then on the drive home my mom was on the phone with the Banquet Manager and I asked what the price per person would be for a Saturday night in December - and what was the minimum. It was 180 minimum and cheaper - and, this might sound cheesy - but I liked the sound of December 3rd. . . the fact that it will be all decorated for the holidays was a bonus.

. . . I'm psyched that it will be a winter wedding - I'm just praying for NO SNOW.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

16th because both of our birthdates fall on the 16th of November and July. October because of the fall season, not hot not cold either.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

1. Had to be summer, I'm a teacher.

2. Had to be next summer, we are 34 and 36.

3. Daytime, we are not night people and we are having the ceremony there so as not to compete with church brides.

4. Wanted a Sunday, cheaper.

5. We have a fmaily reunion in CA in late July.

6. Monday, July 4th was available and per plate was about 1/3 the cost of the SAturday night wedding at the same hall on July 2nd.

7. The actual date was less important to me... I guess I'll have fireworks every year for my anniversary

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

I started with Jan and everyone freaked that their would be a blizzered, my luck their would be.... It just went on and on that we couldn't get the church and the place the same day. We finally ended up with June 25. The funny thing is our dates were always something that my was a special day to my father(who passed away a few yrs ago). The day he died, or the 17th his favorite number, or his birthday June 25th!!!! I feel like that is good luck, I will celebrate it with my aniversery every year. Wasn't that weird though?

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

I wanted November or February but FH's parents vetoed both. In order to stay within the discount months, we picked April. Had to do a Sunday night (Jewish customs + money) so that narrowed it down. The 24th (last Sunday) is Passover so that was out. A friend of a friend is getting married out of state the weekend of the 10th and I didn't want to lose a bunch of people so that was out. And, my sister lives in GA and her kids are off the week between the 3rd and the 10th so that made the final decision between the 3rd and the 17th.

Whew! Essentially, process of elimination.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

We had no preference as far as date just that it could not be 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after June 26th simply becuase my best friend's wedding was then....so that left June and July pretty much out. So we really left it up to what the availability of the halls were....being that most of my mom's family is Jewish Sunday was the most ideal, a long weekend seemed the most appropriate.

Other benefits were off season prices for essentially peak time as well as the blooming time of some of the flowers we really liked at the hall.

Re: Why did you pick your wedding date?

We didnt want to get married in the summer or the winter. As for fall, thats what we originally wanted but the prices we were being quoted were outrageous. So springtime it was! And it couldnt be near Easter so April 29 worked out. A 'May-like' wedding, without May prices!
