Yes, too early. People will forget by the time the 1 year mark rolls around.

My parents received a save the date for february 2012 and she was pissed. It is not a family member, just a friend's child, so my mom was like why do I want this magnet on my fridge for over two years?? I am sure it will get misplaced or lost before then because its just so far away. I would def hold off if you can!!

Your guest list can change and you might feel obligated to invite ppl you gave one to. I would wait.
