It's pure opinion. She's entitled to it. This is a free country.Having said that, I do think it's a load of BS!

Re: Yeks! Talk about being close minded!
If you love your husband's deep voice, or the hair on his chest, or the breadth of his shoulders, if you love the fact that he is attracted to and in love with a woman, with you, and if you cherish the children he's helped you create, be aware that all of these things are due to the one thing that ultimately defines his manhood: his adorable, sexy, wonderful cock.

My favorite is the one where she says that it is okay to marry your cousin and that people should not condemn you for it!

That is her opinion and she is entitled to it. I really do not agree with her at all but I do respect her opinion so long as she can respect mine as well as others.

Re: Yeks! Talk about being close minded!
True, an opinion is an opinion. So here is mine:This is the only thing I got from that article but from an entirely different perspective:
'Names don't represent our souls. They are just names.'
THIS is why I scoff at people who tell me I lose my identity if I assume my husband's last name. Am I submissive to him in any way as this article would indicate that I am (and so happily so)? Find me a submissive Jewish woman (like me
) from LI who demonstrates subservience to her husband. I may PAY to see that. Funny, my mother and sister didn't lose themselves at all. They rule the roost!I am now Mrs. S. Not because society said I had to be, but because it was a choice. Every societal and educational achievement as well as growth milestone I ever made, I made as Miss C. And again:
'Names don't represent our souls. They are just names.'
Hows THAT for eating your own words MRS/MS/MISS BELL?

Re: Yeks! Talk about being close minded!
'The trouble is, legions of women who have never done a professional thing in their lives cling fiercely to their names as though they had. Women who have made no strides in the world, who have nothing for which they are known, except, ironically, being someone's wife, insist on holding onto their maiden names or hyphenating their name as some sort of last stab at individuality. Their attempts fall flat. All that results is a husband who feels a little put out, a little hurt that his wife won't take his name, no matter how brave and modern he tries to be about it. It sends a subtle message that his wife would rather honour her father, someone she was born to, and keep his name rather than honour her husband, someone she chose, by taking his. 'who is she to judge what someone's value is in wanting to keep their own name???

Re: Yeks! Talk about being close minded!
so I googled the nutjob and turns out she also writes for the 'Second Wives Club' (wonder what happened to the first marriage?) and a site called 'Taken In Hand' -- which apparently offers a place for women to learn how to be more submissive and controlled by their husbandds -- can you say 'over my dead body!'Welcome New Vendors
